I've always loved Como Smoke & Fire. Their brisket is my favorite and I'm a loyal customer, eating there at least once a month, if not more. Until recently I'd have given them a 5 star rating, but I no longer feel they are 5 star worthy. After the COVID-19 scare in March I have only eaten here via their drive-thru window. The last time I did this I made a very unfortunate mistake in turning a corner into my neighborhood too sharp with my take out food in the passenger seat. When I opened the passenger door to get my food and go inside - it fell out of the bag, out of the door, and onto the pavement, face down. It was ruined. My fries, scattered all over the pavement, were inedible as well. Maybe I was just tired and super hungry after not eating all day, but I couldn't help but cry. I do not live close to Como Smoke & Fire either which made it even worse. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. They straight up asked me "You're not asking us to replace your food are you!???" I said well yes, that is why I am calling. I told them I understand if you can't replace it for free. I even was able to relate and tell them I know how some people would try to take advantage of you guys like that as I choked back tears. I asked if it was possible to give me half off and I would even show them a picture of my meal scattered on the pavement. The lady on the phone said she'd ask the owner and then came back to the phone and said "He says we don't do that." I felt so defeated and like the man who owns this restaurant does not value his loyal customers at all. I had to pay the full price for another meal and drive all the way there and back home again. I understand it's a business and how COVID-19 has put a strain on everyone, I just felt so insignificant and like they do not give a single you-know-what about their customers. They probably don't care, actually after my experience, I KNOW they don't care....but I'm getting my BBQ elsewhere from now on, where I am appreciated...
Read moreHubby and I went for lunch on Valentine's day. The place is well-lit and there's plenty of room between tables. The bathrooms were clean and orderly. There's a baby changing station in the handicap stall of both the men's and women's. There's a little stool under the sink for kids to stand on so they can reach the sink to wash their hands.
Only two waitresses were working almost ten tables. We both ordered water but our waitress served the party that came after us their drinks first. When she finally came to take our order, we asked for our waters. She took another few minutes to bring them. I ordered mine without ice but she brought it with ice. I told her and she said she would correct the mistake. Another few minutes go by so hubby got up to just go get me a water. Fine.
We ordered fried pickles for our appetizer. You get one dipping sauce for six GIANT fried pickles. They were extremely crispy--breaded, not battered--not soggy at all. It was an extra 99¢ if you wanted another 2 Tablespoons of dipping sauce (which was Tabasco and Ranch mixed together).
There seemed to be an upcharge for almost everything you could order. I got the burnt ends with roasted mixed vegetables and sweet potato fries. My meal came with two sides but it was an extra 99¢ for each one of my sides. Hubby ordered brisket with baked beans and onion rings. His meal also came with the two sides but it was an extra $1.99 for the onion rings, which tasted average.
It was a crapshoot whether my bite of burnt ends (which was $5 more than the pulled pork) was going to be an entire cube of gristle or meat. However, the roasted mixed vegetables were outstanding. Peppers, asparagus, mushrooms, squash, and okra--smoky and flavorful. Hubby said beans were nothing special, plus the bowl they were served in was missing a chunk of ceramic off the side. This was a $44 meal! Thankfully we...
Read moreThe restaurant is great and has great service however their catering not so much. I used COMO Smoke and Fire for the food at my wedding and wow I was disappointed. I have always loved their food so imagine my surprise when sitting down for dinner at my own wedding after paying thousands of dollars for the food and it’s cold. We even had them come an hour early to heat up the food. Went back for a second plate after a few guests had got theirs to see if it was just my plate that was cold because it came from the top and that was still cold. It was very embarrassing and not to mention it was nearly impossible to get ahold the of the catering staff. I left many voice messages/text messages and called many times trying to make payment or ask questions and my calls were never returned. The night before my wedding the manager had to get in contact with the owner! I love their food normally in the restaurant but I do not recommend using their catering service unless you want to spend thousands and get no customer service and serve your guests cold food. Very disappointed and sad that I now have to remember how excited I was to have my favorite pulled pork and being let down and embarrassed that I was serving my family and...
