Itâs unfortunate that Iâm writing this because Iâve always loved going to Mottas. After a stressful COVID experience where we had to cancel my daughters birthday trip, I decided to throw her a small party with a few friends. I called Mottas to have a small cake made and whoever I talked to was rude, impatient, and genuinely seemed like she didnât want to help or even have the time of day to help me find something that would actually work for what I needed. For my daughters trip, I had ordered a cake where we were going and unfortunately had to cancel it since we could no longer go. The cake I had ordered for our trip was a small, 6inch, cannoli flavored, horse-themed cake. When I called Mottas, I gave her the exact same info and she said âwe donât do themes for cannoli cakesâ, âwe donât do themes for 6in cakesâ, even though i see picture on their site with themed smaller cakes. Instead of providing suggestions, she just told me what they canât do.
Then, to top it off, a very âprofessionalâ Santo Paul Jr. (who coincidentally works at Mottas) decided to laugh at a post on the local page of me asking for local bakers, while requesting that the suggestions not be Mottas.
Seems like professionalism doesnât run in this family, and, from their actions and attitude, they must not even be Italian, because any true Italian would never treat customers like that and would have at least a little thicker skin than...
Read moreI pre ordered a birthday cake for my daughter a week ahead of time and asked specifically what i wanted and showed a photo of what i wanted. The worker wrote it down on a receipt paper and i believed it would be done as i asked ( since iâve ordered here multiple times before).. The writing on the cake wasnât done and it was done in such a rush it looked horrible⊠so i called the bakery and spoke with the owner as i got home and his demeanor was disgusting and unprofessional. Tried to make me seem like it was my fault and i was wrong as a customer in what the end result ended up being. I would never put out a product with my name as they did today and continue to defend it when the customer is clearly unhappy. He complained he barely makes a profit off of a cake to give a refund. when i said i just wonât be a customer any longer he tried to say next time im looking for a cake i can get it for free. but i wont ever come back wanting a cake from youâŠ. so keep your money. I will never come back to this establishment mainly because of how the owner handled his business after the fact. He wonât be getting any more money for his business from me or anyone i know that regularly comes...
Read moreGot a red velvet cake for my birthday from this place and it was the worst red velvet I have ever had. It seemed stale almost like the cake was frozen and defrosted at some point. Very dry and dense, the cream cheese frosting was very runny and actually melted down the entire sides of the cake once it was out of the fridge for 5 minutes.
They were very clear that it HAD to be refrigerated which it was and it was cut immediately after removing it from the fridge. Then within a few minutes the sides started drooping and completely melted down the sides into a pool of frosting. It was clear they don't know how to make a proper cream cheese frosting since it was runny like this. I thought a simple red velvet cake was an easy ask for an experienced and established bakery but clearly that was not the case. I will never get anything from this place again.
They are also very rude when placing an order and standoffish when picking up. Not even worth the trip in my opinion which is a shame since they are the only bakery in this area. A cake from stop and shop would have been cheaper and tasted better since they are fresh made and not some defrosted...
