Belle River Winery — Restaurant in Columbus Township

I drove 40 minutes out to Columbus to visit this winery for the first time and let me tell you, it was worth it!

It's a magical place tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect for date nights or to relax around a firepit, sipping all of Rob's creations.

The outdoor patio, where we sat despite it being quite chilly, felt like home away from home. It was romantic and cozy. Music played in the background, but it wasn't intrusive and allowed for "inside voices" conversation amongst ourselves and the friendly staff.

Each comfortable chair had a blanket, which I needed as the night went on that were cuddly soft and warm.

Seating accommodates 8 perfectly, but a few more could sit out there without issue.

Sure, we could've sat inside, where there is another small area for those that wanted to be a bit warmer. But as soon as I saw the patio area, I knew that was the place to be!

I highly recommend visiting here, multiple times. Try everything on the menu. There's wine, mead, brandy, charcuterie and cute dogs to pet!

The prices are so reasonable and the wines are delicious. I'll return again and again.

Things of importance to note: There's no vaping on the patio. This isn't a place to go for loud, boisterous conversation. The bathroom is a bit of a walk from the establishment and the parking area and bathroom are not well lit. It's clean, tastefully decorated and the staff is very attentive...

This is a new winery (they opened March 2022) that's only 7 min from my house - how did it take me so long to come here? This is a cozy little winery with tasty wines & meads, as well as a few other offerings. We had a great convo with the owner, Rob, about the business, what they offer, etc. I will definitely be bringing more folks here!

My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the washroom facilities -- at the moment, they only have a portajohn (it was clean! Not complaining about that) and while there is a motion sensor light in it, there was nothing indicating where it was in the dark, at the other end of the parking lot. So...maybe have a light near the commode so we can see where we are headed. But the drinks were all amazing and the service and atmosphere were top-notch! (...and they give a bar of chocolate just for sitting...

Belle River Winery is an absolute gem! Their Bloody Marys are truly a masterpiece—huge, delicious, and loaded with flavor. The wine selection is also top-notch, perfect for any palate. The cozy atmosphere makes it the ideal spot to unwind, whether you’re with friends or enjoying some time to yourself.

The staff is incredibly friendly and inviting, making every visit feel special. The owner, Rob, is not only kind and welcoming but also deeply inspiring. He took the time to chat with us, and we learned about his dedication to supporting children with autism, including his own. His passion for making a difference in their lives adds an extra layer of heart to this already wonderful place.
