La Baia offers by far the most flavorful, rich, fresh, and authentic Italian pizza I have ever tasted in the United States. I genuinely mean that. Please, allow me to explain.
From the time I was very young I have been surrounded by Italian cuisine from my grandparents and parents. I have traveled to Italy several times, have 2nd and 3rd cousins in the Abruzzo region, many Italian-American friends, and I also have many Italian-born friends in the Central Ohio area. For years I have been looking for a safe reliable place in Columbus for true Italian pizza that reminds me of my family and heritage.
Once I found out about La Baia, I have been going repeatedly ever since. Type "La Baia" on StreetFoodFinder and drive to the locations near you throughout the week. I strongly recommend doing this. Every ordered pizza comes with a small Italian flag on the pizza box, I have a minimum of 20 flags over a 5 month time frame (some of these flags I have given to friends, but I like to collect them). I have also taken La Baia's pizzas to friends & relatives as well as brought some friends with me to the food truck to eat their pizzas. I have told groups of college roommates, high school friends, and work friends of mine about La Baia because of how good it is.
What La Baia offers is not meant to be like Donatos, Little Caesars, Jets or Papa Johns Pizza. It is very important to understand this!
The pizza at La Baia consists of many well thought out harmonious components. The dough that is soft, elastic, and slightly airy, a tomato or pesto base that is vibrant and tangy, a cheese that is creamy and smooth, along with delicate herbal toppings and a warm inviting wood fire aroma. The menu is very diverse and each pizza offers a very unique experience.
The main pizza chef is a skilled culinary professional with an extensive background in the Italian restaurant business. Having lived in Italy for many years, he has successfully brought authentic Italian pizza to Columbus. I think that this is important to mention because he and his family members are very nice, easy to talk to, personable and I have learned a lot from the conversations I've had with them.
P.s. La Baia can also cater your events as well! Please see the pictures I've...
Read moreI just returned from 3 years overseas in Italy and I can say that this is the best authentic Neapolitan pizza (or maybe the only authentic Italian pizza) that I have found in Columbus. This is what you get in Italy and it is wonderful. The crust is thin with a nice wood fired char on the outside and is just like what you can get in Naples. They use top quality and fresh ingredients and keep them to a minimum so each one can shine. If you want pizza smothered in cheap cheese and loaded with a ton of toppings there are plenty of places for that in the area. This is true Italian pizza where each ingredient is treated with care and the pizza is light and balanced, like it is done in Italy. The owners are kind and friendly and from Italy and I highly recommend trying this place out. They are the real deal and so glad to add them to the Columbus pizza...
Read moreBEST PIZZA in columbus. I'm italian, born and raised, and this is where I go when I feel homesick... it smells and tastes exactly like at home. The crust is soft and never chewy, the sause is delicious and never acidic, the mozzarella is fresh but never watery. In a word: EXELENT. Pasta e' sofficissima, il pomodoro non e' mai acido, e la mozzarella e' quella giusta per fondere senza bagnare la pasta. Son soddisfazioni.... Assolutamente Eccellente! Please note: as any good "Napoli stlyle" pizza, the slice cannot hold the weight of the toppings when lifted... that is what is expected to do! You either eat it with knife and fork or you fold the slice in half lengthwise. "Naples style" pizza is different and it is a choice. If you make that choice, la baia is the perfect...
