La Matraca Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Columbus

Manuel was mine and my boyfriend's server and holy hell he is amazing! Seriously he truly is hands down one of the best servers I've ever had wait on me ANYWHERE🤗. The food is absolutely mouthwatering (I had a dish called Chile Colorado and mm mm mmm it makes me hungry just to think about it lol 😂). For an alcoholic drink I chose their lime margarita on the rocks which ends up coming in an ice cold frozen/frosty glass (I'm guessing to help keep it nice and cold🥶), which to me was such a thoughtful touch because so many restaurants don't do stuff like that anymore. And also to top it off while waiting for our food we got to snack on freshly cooked tortilla chips w/house made salsa but I also ended up getting their homemade pico de gallo dip, homemade guacamole🥑 dip, and their liquid white queso cheese dip to dip my tortilla chips in and omg if you go there you have to ask for a side of white queso dip for your chips I promise u won't...

As a Mexican Food Lover this food came out so bland and with out flavor. My child's Mac and cheese was not mixed and fries were hard. The shrimp Chimichamga was bland, shrimp wrapped in a deep-fried tortilla, with no flavor. The shrimp cocktail was as though they just pour tomatoes juice chopped some onions and advacado and threw the shrimp in, again Bland, no flavor. My Carnitas was the same, Bland, no flavor. No stewed authentic Carnita flavors At all. It was like a pork shoulder slow cooked to be pulled pork, just add bbq sauce and it would have passed for a pulled pork sandwich Very disappointed. My wife walked out and my daughter followed as I had to avoid conflict and complain about their terrible quality of "-" "Authentic Mexican" food. Server was nice. Just wanted to serve me more Corona. The food was really good. I got the fajita chimichanga and it was a nice portion with beans and rice. The menu is HUGE and I had a hard time choosing. Lots of seafood choices too - not for me but I know a lot of ppl like that stuff. 😁 Scallops even. The free chips and salsa... chips were on the thicker side and the salsa was awesome. Queso was a bit runny but the flavor was good. Fried ice cream was similar to others around town, topped with chocolate sauce, honey and sprinkles. The tortilla bowl had cinnamon and sugar on it which I haven't come across in a little while. Yummy.

It was super hot in the restaurant while we were there. Not sure if they were having an a/c issue that day or what. Hopefully that's under control now since it's a brand new building.
