Four years ago, we had stopped in Southern Manners but were not overly impressed. It wasn't bad, it just didn't stand out for us...not the warmest welcome, menu was mehhhh, they didn't have any soups on the menu despite having sandwiches which was disappointing, and whatever we had wasn't enough to make us come back again at least anytime soon.

Today, we went in for the second time while running errands in Columbus and were very pleasantly surprised🙂 We were greeted as soon as we entered, it had a very warm atmosphere & felt it was a popular local place, and the menu had definitely expanded and included a diverse selection of breakfast offerings (biscuits, baked oatmeal, stuffed French toast), sandwiches, wraps, burgers, melts, soups, and sides.

I ordered the Rueben with a side of broccoli salad and my husband had the Italian deli sandwich on tomato basil bread with a cup of creamy broccoli noodle soup. We grabbed our drinks (my hubby had a coke zero and I had sweet tea which had the perfect balance of sweetness to tea flavor) and snagged a seat by the window (there was also upstairs seating we found out which I definitely don't remember from years ago).

Our food came out promptly & was nice & hot. My rueben was perfect with the right level of crispness gooeyness and filled with plenty of corned beef topped with sauerkraut, dressing, and cheese and the broccoli salad was fresh with a nice sweet dressing & dressed with cheese & sunflower seeds. My hubby's sandwich on that bread was amazing and so fresh tasting!!! And their soup was yummy...so yummy I was reaching over & dipping my sandwich in it☺️

I can say without reservations that we most definitely will be back & likely become our go-to local lunch spot! I can't wait to try their breakfast offerings. I am typically off on Mondays and it's perfect finding a restaurant opened around Tyron/Columbus/Landrum as most are closed.

Southern Manners is very under-rated. Ya'll...

First time visiting and not sure we will be back. For those new to this restaurant, you order at the counter when you walk in and then you can take your seat. You are asked to tip prior to service. We regret that the most. We were assured that although the wait for food was 45 minutes, we could sit and we would have drinks. 20-30 mins later no drinks, no sight of a waiter/waitress, but all the parties of four sat after us had their drinks and introductions to staff. We finally gave in and asked the hostess how we go about getting drinks and she went to the back immediately and retrieved them. From then on it was an absolutely nightmare to get refills. I stopped one waitress and let her know I was sorry but didn't know who our waitress was but could we please get a sweet tea refill for my husband. The look of disdain on her face had me never to stop someone again for a refill. One gentleman came by, one time, and asked if he could refill my long empty water. I was grateful. The coffee refills are relatively easy to get as they seem to go table to table looking for the cups. One elderly couple even got coffees to go, lucky.. not so much for us. We were left parched. Finally our food arrived and we had to ask for silverware. Glad my husband remembered otherwise I would have had to catch someone in passing again. The food was mostly great, to me.. but for the price point and terrible service, it just doesn't balance out. My eggs were not edible and I passed them to my husband. I had asked for over hard and they were runny. I can't stand that. Atmosphere was ok. Just overall...

Would be much easier to sit people and all them to look at the menu and order than it is of having order as soon as go in. As you hold the line up tons trying stand and look through the menu to decide what you would like and being forced pay before so it doesn't give the opportunity to order a desert or even another side without having go to counter to order and then paying again. Not counting the fact of my child ordered a grilled cheese with fries and only received half of a grilled cheese sandwich, figuring paying almost $9 for hers alone I thought she would at least get a full grilled cheese sandwich. Was extremely difficult to get assistance to get a box or even a refill on water. My food on the other hand was appetizing as I ordered a chicken quesadilla with a substituted cheese as I don't do pepper jack cheese to often so I was great full they were willing to change the cheese option for me along with having tons of different wrap options for it to be put on.

The size of the salads are huge they are like 2 large salads in 1 bowl to almost 3. No one who was having a salad was being able to finish them because of the amount. I watched a good 10 people trying to get a server to get them boxes to try and box up the reminder of the salad as there was to much and having difficulty getting the servers attention or they were leaving half the bowl because they were not able to eat it all and we're not wanting take it with them. Smaller salads could be offered instead of it being so much served and then wasted because the fact once they leave it is having be tossed...

This is our new hidden gem. I love this place it has amazing everything I have tried. Every time I go I try something different. We have been buying the deli meats, pimento cheese, broccoli salad, ice cream, and a lot of other goodies. I always buy boar heads from Ingles. Yall that is expensive I know. This family is full of food allergies, unfortunately. It was the best of the best I was told. It seemed like the last couple of years it was going bad in no time at all. That was with me coming home and repacking it. We ate breakfast here one morning. I was talking with a young lady just looking. I asked how do you like the deli meat? How is the quality? She stated it was fantastic you should try it. I drive here weekly to buy my staples for my household. So we got 3 different types. They were all delicious we had no issues with anything from allergies. I have been back and bought multiple things and the sweets are so good also. Boo and b love the cinnamon rolls! We are so glad we found it and are now buying staples for our household.

This place is a hidden gem! From the moment you walk in, you feel so welcome. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service is top-notch—everyone is incredibly polite and helpful. The facility is divided into three sections, each offering something unique. First, there’s a charming little store where you can shop for items. Next is the bakery, which sells fresh donuts, meats, cheeses, and bread. My absolute favorite? The apple cider donuts—they are amazing! And finally, there’s the restaurant, which was just as impressive. A heads-up for first-timers: When you enter the restaurant area, have your order ready because you place and pay for it at the counter right away. The menu is posted to the right as you walk up to the front desk. Overall, everything about this place was fantastic—great food, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit! Breakfast is served from 6am to 10:30am and the. Lunch until 2pm. The entire menu sounds so delicious.
