We went to the Chicken Lady's Coop at 1:31 on a weekday based on the recommendations of a Facebook group. Wow were we disappointed!
My partner purchased a baked/broasted chicken meal with squash casserole and green beans with jalapeno cheddar cornbread. I selected a fried chicken breast with collard greens, sweet potato casserole, and jalapeno cheddar cornbread.
His entree was tasteless, along the lines of hospital baked chicken. His said his green beans tasted like they were straight out of the can. Both our jalapeno cornbreads were dry, even when I slathered butter on it. That was really unfortunate, becase the taste was there, but the moisture wasn't. They were super dry and a waste of what could've been a delightful offering. The sqash casserole was okay. Not tasteless, but not flavorful. My collard greens were okay; they were rather chewy and flavored with salt and chicken broth instead of bacon or other smoked meat. The sweet potato casserole was WAY over-seasoned with pumpkin pie spice, so I didn't enjoy that southern classic, either. The final letdown was my fried chicken. I was looking forward to a juicy, well-seasoned, beautifully crispy piece of golden fried deliciousness. What I got was a dry, tough piece of chicken breast. The breading was good, but the chicken was a disaster. Neither of us ate three bites of our food and threw it all away and left hungry, upset, and disappointed.
They had a sign on the food line to "ask the cashier" about their grape salad. Neither of us had ever heard of grape salad, so I asked the young cashier about it. She was clueless and said "it has grapes in it". I thought there was a hidden camera somewhere when she said that, as it was laughable. If you're going to offer something new on the menu, make sure your people know what the heck it is.
Epic fail. We will not return to this establishment for which we had such high hopes. Maybe their food truck offerings are okay, but I advise you to hard pass on the eat-in side of...
Read moreMan oh man! Where do I start? It was a Saturday when me and fiance tried their food . I got the fried chicken, roll, collards, dressing w chicken gravy and Mac and cheese. All of it was so good, no doubt! My fiance got the BBQ chicken with the same sides with the jalapeño corn bread that day and he recommended that I complete this review w 5 stars lol . Day 2 of trying this lovely restaurant I didn't order from here but fiance insisted . This time he got the baked chicken with green beans potato salad Mac and cheese and dressing. Mind you I helped him eat his sides lol I loved it and so did he. whispers they even give you cranberry sauce for your dressing, good GOD! The potato salad was with red skin potatoes and perfectly made ... none of their food is over seasoned which is good for people with high blood pressure or dietary restrictions.
on the side on the first day my other half got their yellow cake w chocolate icing and blueberry lemon cake and both was so good. Day 2 I requested the red velvet cake and everything was just so good. We also got two large lemonades that has the perfect amount of sugar. I would definitely recommend...
Read moreI drove to Columbus to visit brother, and take him for a Father's Day breakfast. My sister, who also lives there, suggested we try this new restaurant and let her know how it was. I guess the expectations were high since there's a person there who was associated with a fabulous restaurant downtown. I had the scrambled eggs, cheese grits, my meat was the chicken patty or strip and a biscuit. The food was totally bland and the chicken was like it was cooked yesterday. The eggs maybe 4 am the same morning. I always thought the hot bar food temperature was supposed to be kept at a very high temp. The warmest thing on my plate was the cheese grits, I guess, to keep the cheese from getting hard. And it's hard for me to swallow a biscuit that is cold. This breakfast was a complete disaster. This person ask us to come back and try their lunch. NO THANK YOU! ... I don't think I will get over this terrible start to my brother's...
