I want to start this by saying I am just outlying my experience. I will also say to the owners there is a book called Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara, it is about how he created one of the most incredible restaurants in NYC. If you and your managerial staff read that I think it could help a ton of areas of your operations. We only had 2 people in our party and waited almost a whole hour, to be seated. To resonate other peoples reviews there were open 2 tops for 20 minutes (that we ended up getting sat in) but it took so long. The process of turning tables is key to a restaurants profitability and not having people wait to just be seated. But this is where it started to only go down hill, we got sat and were there for at least 15 minutes cause I told my GF I was just going to go home and eat, then a nice lady came over (she was the owners wife come to find out later) and asked if had our drinks ordered and we told her nope no one has come over and greeted us or got us anything. I think told her we just wanted to order and get everything going. She left and about 3 minutes later our waitress appeared with two glasses of water (the only water and drink we would ever get or even be asked for our whole meal). We ordered one appetizer, jalepeno bites which are fried so they came out quickly, within 10 minutes. Then we waited another 35 minutes for our food to come out, nothing special, a 2 meat platter with mac and Cheese, potato salad, pulled pork and brisket. Then my Girlfriend had hanks smash sandwich. My food the platter was stone cold, the mac and cheese had congealed and all the meat was cold. Why on earth would you serve something stone cold to someone after 35 minutes. The ONLY thing that was hot was my GF fries. I then got up and asked to speak to a manager and the owners wife came over, we talked and she went and got me a new plate within 3 minutes. Then another lady I guess a floor manager came over to make sure we were good. Still not seen our server again. The Mac & Cheese was really good, brisket was good, the pulled pork a little dry for my taste, but you could pour a ton of sauce on it. My GF Fries were also good. Burger was Meh.... We finished and it took at least another 10 minutes and our waitress appeared and asked if we were done, we said yes. She then said they would give us free dessert, but we had been there for like 2:45 and just wanted to go home. (still empty water glasses ). There you go, my thorough review, will I be going back... probably not. Will they get better I hope so, the restaurant business is tough. I think you really need more staff, you need to do more run throughs with the staff, on operations flow. The way you seat people, greet people, time to table for water /drinks and first touch has to go down. I can't see your kitchen ops but I am sure there are ways to get food out faster if most of it is already made like other BBQ restaurants. I hope this helps the consumer and also the owners (that book will change your paradigm). ...

I was here as a patron during your visit and have no affiliation with Hanks so my review is mine. I believe it is important to point out that you ordered multiple “doubles” of liquor and became quasi belligerent when (after your consumption) didn’t feel your food was up to par.
Also of note keep in mind that there have been multiple businesses at this location that simply haven’t made it. So paying $100 for a night out locally goes a long way. It now costs $100 to fill up my truck.
Taking those two points into consideration your poor review doesn’t portray an accurate depiction of this establishment.
You came in already having “being served”. You got here, and were served what you asked for. Your point of contention was that your collared greens had sauce. This was determined to be a point of contention due to the fact that you felt it necessary to leave your bar stool and question every other person about their thoughts regarding sauce on collard greens. Bro. The collared greens are $5 and this whole review is about your $100 bill (inclusive of your 4 $20 doubles).
I hope you come back and give Hanks another chance. I’m local and would love the opportunity to buy you a beer and change your mind.
Hanks is an absolute asset to this location and a tiny bit of empathy will go a...
Read moreI have always enjoyed taking the family to Hanks Texas BBQ. The food is great, the atmosphere is solid, and it is a place I have recommended to others. Unfortunately, today's visit was a significant disappointment.
While a young server was setting a plate down in front of my wife, the coleslaw that had an unusually large amount of juice splattered across her entire outfit. It was not a small drip. It was clearly noticeable and immediately frustrating. It was also clear he saw it happen because he set the plate down in front of her and saw it, the whole table did. I am also not sure why a side of coleslaw would be served as half vegetables and half a dish of juice. That is not how coleslaw is supposed to be served. Despite this, the server did not acknowledge the splatter and walked away without saying anything.
When I informed another staff member, the response felt very indifferent. There was no apology, no sense of urgency, and no effort to address the situation beyond offering wipes. Another employee asked who the server was, but nothing happened after that. Which I am not sure what the point of asking was and typically a manager would walk over and check in.
The lack of acknowledgment and basic customer care left us feeling dismissed. It affected our meal and our overall experience. We packed up early because it was clear the situation was not going to be addressed.
We have had good visits in the past and this restaurant has potential, but today's experience makes it difficult to imagine dining in again. A simple apology and a bit of ownership would have made all...
