My wife insisted I go out for veteran's day breakfast at Mooselook. I normally stay home. Howevewr, she made resrvations and we went. This was our 2nd trip there. They were very busy, sat us and brought us coffee immediately. Thanked me for my service and came back a bit later for our order. I got 2, eegs, toast, and home fries ( They make home fries the proper way!) and a side of homemade corned beef hash. Wife got blueberry pancakes with a side of sauasage links. We waited a bit longer than normal for our food, but they were slammed the place was full, waitstaff was supper busy and I am sure the kitchen was as well. Did, I mention that ALL Veteran's ate free that day 11/11. Not only were they slammed they were give back to the community and Veteran's. Who can't like a place that does this? Our meal came, very hot. It didn't sit at all it seems, which is good. Our coffee cup were kept full. I was thanked again for my service. The corned beef hash was awesome (order the corned beef hash!) The meal was perfect, real VT maply syrup, awesome homefries, 4 links of sausage, and corned beef hash that was so I almost ordered more to bring home. So... we ate, bill came and it was as expected. Mine was subtracted from bill except hash as expected it was extra. We paid then came the actual charge... It was less than what the original bill was. All we can figure was the hash was subtracted as well. We left a tip that was almost as much as the original bill. It still wasn't enough for what they did for the Veteran's that day. I wish I could have done more. They are a super place to eat. Go there even if it is a bit further than you normally would go. They are located right on US RT 2. Not far from ST Johnsbury, nor the interstate. Stop by, eat, order the hash if you can. Their meal are affordable and the coffee flows well. Again, I want to thank the MooseLook...
Read moreMy granddaughter and I stopped for lunch on this dreary afternoon. I had the open faced meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. The meatloaf was tasty but the slice was thin-not what I expected from a quaint, little restaurant. My granddaughter had a cheeseburger and fries-ordered medium well, with pickles and mustard of course 🙄 The waitress dropped off our food and said she would be back with the mustard. She got distracted and I ended up having to go up and ask for it (she had to search for what appeared to be the only bottle). That wasn’t the worst part of our meal. The fries were old, cold and either reheated or cooked in old oil (I’ve run a kitchen-I know what I’m talking about), the burger was dripping in its own grease-I had to dry off the bottom of the bun and wipe the plate. The burger was not medium well at all-it was medium at best. My granddaughter is not a hurtful person so she kept saying it was fine and was trying to be polite and told the waitress it was delicious (she’s 9 with a heart of gold). She ate most of the 2 quarters I cut for her and barely any fries-said she was going to save them for her mother. She loves cheeseburgers and eats an entire DOUBLE cheeseburger most times, so this was not because she was being fussy. Our server was polite but the other woman she was speaking to seemed like she had no desire to deal with her-after witnessing an interaction with someone calling and asking for a manager. I’ve worked in this industry for years and I don’t like leaving negative feedback but sometimes it’s...
Read moreOne word: PANCAKES Never have I ever had a pancake that made me go "WOW!" From the very first bite I noticed something different, delectable, mouth-watering.
Bacon was great, eggs were great, but the pancakes really stood out. Every bite I took gave me just as much the thrill of the taste. It would be an understatement to say they were the best tasting pancakes I've ever had because it was more than just good taste. Every bite I took was like a celebration in my mouth. Unbelievably delicious!
I thought after a while that I would get used to the taste and my taste buds would eventually settle, but every bite I took of each pancake in my plate was just as yummy as the previous.
Guess what I'm ordering the next time I visit? Heck I might skip the bacon and eggs and order extra pancakes!
On a side note, I noticed a cute little birdhouse. I'm told these are handmade and they are for sale....
