I went to Rossini’s in search of something simple and true, and I found it in the modest warmth of a pizzeria that bears no unnecessary pretense. Amid the clamor and constant movement of our modern lives, there exists in Wayland a quiet corner where sustenance is offered not with fanfare but with care, and where a man may sit and eat in peace.
The crust of their pizza is of particular note, possessing the crispness of fallen leaves underfoot in early November, yet softened by the tender hand of dough well-worked and time well-spent. Their sauce is no riot of spices nor sugary artifice, but rather the honest product of tomatoes sun-ripened and unashamed of their earthbound origins. It speaks not loudly, but clearly.
I found the staff to be industrious and cheerful, though never obtrusive. They seemed to understand what many in this life forget — that the truest form of hospitality is to allow a man his solitude even as you serve him.
Their pasta, too, is made with an earnestness I admire. I chose a simple penne with marinara and sausage, and it reminded me that the richness of life is not found in excess, but in the wholesome repetition of good things done well. It nourished more than just my body.
Rossini’s is not a place for idle gossip or hasty indulgence. It is a place for the quiet contemplation of a meal — a refuge, however brief, from the relentless machinery of time. One might say, it is a kind of Walden in sauce and cheese.
I left with gratitude and with the firm belief that the best places are not always those most talked about, but rather those that hum steadily in the background of a town, feeding its people with humility and heart.
If you would dine well and live deliberately, go to Rossini’s....
Read moreMy first experience with Rossinis was trying to order a pizza to be delivered to White Pond in Concord (literally 4 mins away drive). We called around 6.00 pm and White Pond was going to close within the hour, but my friends and I though that because they were so close delivery should be fast. The minute after placing the order I call them back and ask how long it would take and they tell me 45 mins. By that time our crew of kids was going to be starving and the Pond about to cose, so I cancelled the order. Again, this was literally 1 min after I had placed it. Today again a group of 4 families decided to gather once more and the Pond and order pizzas (earlier this time). When I called they took my order but said they had no drivers to deliver. So I left two of my boys under the supervision of friends and drove with my 3 year old and my 8 month pregnant belly to pick it up, only to find that they DID HAVE DRIVERS AVAILABLE BUT PURPOSELY DECIDED NOT TO DELIVER TO ME BECAUSE I HAD CANCELLED THE ORDER LAST TIME DUE TO A 45 MIN WAIT TIME!!!Who on earth is so vengative to do that? Make you drive all the way, pregnant, with a little boy to tell you in your face after you have paid that they mad you go there for vengeance? This was an order from the manager and there was no further explanation. Of course, if they would have the courtesy to mention over the phone when I placed my order the reason why they would not deliver, all of the families would have chosen not to order there. But hey did take the order, got our money and waited till we got there to state the reason why we were punished with no delivery. CONCORD AND SUBDURY FRIENDS: PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE AND...
Read moreWe live close to Rossini’s Concord and I have dealt with their mediocre food for years in lieu of convenience. Tonight was the final straw. I will not go back.
I called at 6:12pm. It took about 10min for the man on the phone to take my order for a grilled chicken wrap, a steak and cheese, and a kids ravioli with meatball. I was told it would be 15-20 minutes. I went to pick up my order at 6:30 and was told that it would be another 7minutes. I waited there for 35 minutes! They kept saying “I’m so sorry for the wait. It will just be 3 more minutes”. My 5 year old daughter was home waiting for her dinner and was starving when I finally returned home. When the food was finally ready I asked what happened and expressed that I would appreciate a more accurate timeframe as I never would have placed the order if I knew it was going to be an hour, not the 15-20 min that they originally told me. The manager said “Sorry. You placed your order 45min ago”. Frustrated and starving, I got in my car without further arguing to find out that it was 7:06…54 minutes after I called to place my order that was to be ready in 15-20min!
I got home and my husband’s meal was completely missing an ingredient. My chicken was dry and the vegetables were raw. For all that wait, the food wasn’t even good…it never is.
They constantly send out under or over cooked food and don’t even try to order delivery! It will go wrong. They never accurately represent the timing of your order....
