Was having dinner with my family when my 4 year old my non verbal son with Down syndrome’s wooden high chair completely fell apart and he fell to the floor. What makes the situation worse, he has a hip disease called Legg Calves Perthes, a fall or injury could cause his hip to break completely. Another family that was sitting behind us came running over to see if he was ok. One of the owners and a waitress came over as well to see if he was ok, but since Liam is non- verbal, it’s hard to tell. He was so scared and embarrassed. The owner said he had a booster seat but they did not have another high chair. We said a booster wouldn’t work, Liam isn’t able to sit in those yet. We went to the car to get his accessible stroller. We continued with our meal, not wanting to cause more attention to the situation. To our surprise, no one approached us again until we asked for the bill. We were not given a discount or compensation on our bill, which we would have not accepted since it would not have been fair to our server, but just the thought would have been appreciated. When we approached the owner, he said all he could do was offer an apology. Later, when we reached out to one of the owners again, the conversation became heated and we were told we were just looking for a free meal. We not only paid our bill but also tipped 20% so obviously that was not the case. It’s common courtesy and good customer service which neither to us. This is very unfortunate incident to happen to any child but especially traumatic for our child due to his extra needs. We frequent this establishment often and simply expected more. Same on...
Read moreUsed to go to the crows nest in years past when I spent a lot of time in bars. My wife daughter and I went for dinner tonight and were very disappointed. The server was new but she was nice, no problem there other than normal things you deal with a new server. The mixed drinks we got contained little alcohol and weren’t good but that’s a crapshoot at most places anyway (plus I think our new server made them).
Where we were really disappointed was the food! It used to be good! Wife and I both ordered steaks, rare. They were both medium/medium well and almost too salty to eat. And for a $26 steak it was really thin and just seemed like even less quality than the something you would get at a low grade steak place like Applebees. Not to mention the side baked potato was undercooked for both of us. We each had to ask for sour cream and when we took a bite of the potato with it we realized the sour cream was spoiled and tasted like mold! We each ordered lobster bisque which was okay I guess but tasted like it was straight out of a giant tub of premade soup, no chunks of anything in it, basically just thick broth.
Not like it used to be 5 years ago. For a $100 on a meal, you should go somewhere else
I would give it less stars but I used to frequent this place a lot and it was great and the owners were very nice, maybe this was just a fluke so I’m giving them the benefit...
Read moreWe visited The Crows Nest today for dinner and a round of drinks. Unfortunately, our experience was not good to say the least. We did receive the first round of drinks without a problem. The original server was a bartender who came to take our drink order and did a great job, then main server brought them out, took our food order, and disappeared for 45 minutes.
When he, we never got his name as he did not share it, did eventually come back we requested another round of drinks and an update on our food. We never got those drinks or that update from the server. We (a 5 top) witnessed 2 other tables (a 3 top and 2 top) under the same server come in, sit down, order, receive, consume, and pay for their meals in the time we waited for ours. After another 10 minutes, a member of our table went to the bar to request we cash out for our round of drinks that we did receive so that we could leave. The bartender ran back to the kitchen and came out to tell us that our food was “ready now” and that the ticket had only been in the kitchen for 30 minutes.
This means that the server forgot to enter the ticket for 25 minutes? That is simply unacceptable when coupled with the complete lack of attention to the table. The massive delays caused us to miss an event that we usually would have had plenty...
