We’ve been going to Warren a lot this summer for home improvement products at Lowe’s. We don’t have a Dairy Queen back home. We’ve stopped at this Dairy Queen twice in the past month. The first time, we waited 10 minutes in the lobby. No one in the drive thru, only one guest in the dining area. There were people in the back walking around on their phones. There’s two registers in the lobby, and we weren’t sure which one to go to. We stood on the side where we could see people in the back. I even opened the front door a second time so the bell would ring. Finally, someone came to the front and he just stared at us. Then when I said I wanted to order something, he told us we were on the wrong side, and that side was for drive thru…there weren’t signs to indicate that, so we didn’t know. He didn’t follow us over or have someone come up to take our order. Just stood there and pointed to the other register. We moved to the other side and then waited for someone to come out to take our order. The second time (everything deserves a second chance) we stopped (today), one employee was openly complaining to another employee about getting a rush, and another male employee in the back was putting together sandwiches with no gloves on, complaining that he needed a cigarette break. He dipped his hand in the pickles and slapped them on the sandwich, then wiped his hands on his gym shorts and continued to make food. I saw him pick up bread with his bare hands again, put a second sandwich together, wipe his hand on his shorts again, boxed the sandwich, and put it in the window, walked away while wiping his hand on his shorts…again. Just disgusting!! The employees beverages were sitting on the counter by the chocolate syrup pump along with someone’s bow tie pasta leftovers from home. The soda machine was a mess…it’s just a no for us moving forward. Hearing employees complain about having to wait on customers, and just wanting to take a break isn’t presenting a welcoming experience. And the no gloves/no handwashing…again, disgusting. *PA Health Department requires the wearing of gloves when preparing ready to eat foods. They’re required to wear hair restraints (the employee making sandwiches wasn’t wearing a hat or a hair net). Drinks are to have lids with straws, and personal food/belongings are to be placed in a designated area away from food preparation areas. Not only were their items on the counter, they were in site...
Read morePROs: I have been in several Dairy Queen(s) in my lifetime, some local, some on the other side of the country, some built into truck stops, some built into airports. This Dairy Queen is by far, the very best. Even though the interior and dining area seem very outdated in my opinion, the furniture and fixtures are kept well maintained and in amazing condition considering the age of the store. The place never has any strange odors, like cleaners or garbage or that unclean smell, in fact the cleanliness of the store is beyond reproach, it just seems uncanny how prudent they are at cleaning and maintenance. The employees on the most part do an outstanding job, and seem fairly competent. As often as i frequent the store, i very rarely see condiments not stocked or an overflowing garbage can or an uncleaned table, And I have never had an order I've placed come up wrong. The food, is almost always well cooked and delicious and it's consistently better than other DQs, the quality puts many other restaurant chains to shame. You can't beat the prices either! FREE WIFI! Pro Putt mini golf out back is fun too! Bagged Ice is the cheapest in town!
CONs: I am splitting hairs here, the comments of mine in this section only reflect my nitpicking opinions and don't at all reflect the quality of the restaurant, the food, or the staff. There is no coat hook in the bathroom, you have to just drop your coat on the floor or drape it on the sink. The interior is completely outdated, It looks nice and functions properly, but it's like stepping into a time machine, the old booths and chairs, the ancient cash registers, the interior decor, it feels like 1985 in there.
Other Thoughts:Typing this is making me hungry for chicken fingers and a blizzard. I know I didn't mention anything about the ice cream in the review, but I didn't really think I had to, It's Dairy Queen, you can't do any better than that, no chain has better ice...
Read moreIf i could rate 0 stars i would. The service we recieved was horrible. It started off with being rushed as we were ordering our food. We were looking over the menu ordered our hot food and In the middle of our order, after we already told her one more minute while we decided on what type of blizzard we wanted she told us to pull around and gave us the total. We said we werent finished and she got an attuide and and said fine when your ready. We finish our order pull around and pay. While waiting for your food, the employee that took our order stared us down the entire time. We were finally given our food. While waiting on the last icecream cone she opens the window and said " What are you still waiting on?" With such a horrible tone. She brings our cone pretty much shoves it in my face and slams the window shut. No have a good evening ect. We were very polite the whole time just to be...
