Conlay's Cafe

I'm so disappointed to have to leave this review. Been coming here since it was Kay's. Being a small town, was rooting for Conlay and kept coming. I even advertise my small business on their placemats. However I just had the worst experience I've ever had there or any restaurant for that matter. We had a male waiter, 20 something probably. It's Saturday so pretty steady, we order our drinks, small delay in getting them but understandable. We were ready with the order, I order bacon, eggs and American fries well done because I don't like flubbery bacon and I like a crisp on both. Was hoping for gluten free toast but they dont have it, okay. When the food shows up, potatoes look good and bacon isn't what I was hoping for regarding doneness. So I ask our waiter if he can have it put back on for a little longer and he says I'll just have the bacon remade. Ok, fine. Thinking he forgot as we were done eating and bacon hadn't showed up. So I say it's fine, were ready to go no bacon required. Im watching him run around the room trying to figure out when im going to get my bill, and he brings bacon! At this point we're really ready to go. We wait and wait, finally he walks by, but doesn't stop and I yell can I have a carryout for the bacon and a check please. Get the carryout box and still no check. So we wait, finally I get up and walk to the register because I'm done waiting. I get the bill at the counter and see it seems high, he had charged me for an additional side of bacon! I was irritated and said something. Instead of saying, let me take care of that for you, he gets confrontational and says the bacon he originally brought was well and the new bacon is just burnt and I should have to pay extra for extra bacon. I was honestly flabbergasted, not to mention my 11 year old is experiencing this with me. He is willing to lose a customers over how they like their bacon...not burnt btw, just crispy. This is really unfortunate because like I said, we own a customer based small business also and I would ALWAYS reccomend Conlays. Needless to say I left the bacon on the counter and a 20% tip. Maybe he will learn something....

Wonderful food! Awesome waitstaff! Prices are reasonable for the great food served!

Update: August 3, 2023 I Treated my grandson to dinner tonight and there was a different waitress than normal who "took care of us" and it wasn't a pleasant experience. To be fair, she was working the floor alone, but the other wait staff have as well and they are always friendly and efficient. I would say perhaps she was having an "off" night, but she was friendly to some of the other customers and thankfully to my grandson but not so much to me. A few examples of how my dinner went: I ordered an iced tea which she brought but I forgot to ask for sweetener so before she left to bring some she asked if there was anything else that I wanted. I apologized and said no (because I felt chastised) and so she slap some down on the table edge, I mumbled Thank you, and she just kept walking. We ordered our main course and I was still looking at the appetizers deciding which to get and the next thing I knew the menu was taken from me and the waitress walked away and I had to lift my jaw off the floor. I guess I really didn't need that appetizer. Luckily my grandson shared his with me! There were a couple of more things that occurred but most importantly the food is REALLY EXCELLENT and this was my first "bad" experience which in hindsight is pretty...

Bad sad 😔.I usually don't write reveiws.This reveiw is my personal exp.I love the food especially fish night.I got to restraunt pre-ordered all fish you can eat,waiting for ,the other party to get there.He had just came back from az.So we met to have dinner.He ask for box to go for himself,I was still eating,ask for more fish was denied because,other paying customer asked for box to go.He could not finish due to his surgery.So we drove 2 separate vehicles,left in 2 different vehicles.So our exp,was not well taken.Not a happy customer.we use to be regular patrons.I live in this community.This may be you're regulation but think about how other customer feel when still eating.i boxed salad ,we left.Hopefully next exp.is as good as last few years.If not .I won't be back.Locals were treated excellent.we felt like we were treated as outsiders/cast.All the other customers were treated well.2 dinners for two,treated...
