We went here because the reviews on yelp were stellar. It was a terrible experience from start to finish. First off we stood outside in the cold in a slow moving line for about 40 minutes. Upon entering I expected to be awestruck but nonetheless it looked like an old barn in the inside as welll. The decor was interesting but didn't make much sense. It maybe was trying to look like an antique shop? Who knows. Anyway one of the locals was chatting us up while we waited in line behind him and told us I should go grab the empty table and wait for my party to order because all tables were occupied. So I did and as soon as I sat down a very unfriendly server approached to remove the dirty dishes and clean the table and scowled at me while she questioned if I had ordered or was "just sitting". When I told her we were in the process of ordering from the very slow order taker she looked at the line pointed and questioned who it was I was talking about, as in who my other party was. She then walked away very obviously annoyed and started posting up signs to not sit before being given a number. However the people in front of us had done the same but nothing was said to them. After ordering we waited over an hour for breakfast. By this time it was noon and we had arrived shortly after 10. I ordered the "cowboy breakfast". I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I had the smallest serving of scrambled eggs I've ever seen. I thought the flavor would justify the wait and long lines and explain the very crowded restaurant. The eggs had no flavor, the sausage links were big but had an odd flavor. Who knows maybe they mixed some blueberries in there?? And they were very cold in the middle. I ate them because I was starving. There was no way I was going to send them back and have to wait 30 minutes for a reheat. I also ordered some bacon and I'm not sure how one doesn't do bacon right ... even those were less than good. I didn't eat the ginormous order of hashbrowns or toast because I'm on keto. However by the looks I can guess how they tasted. The other food ordered did not look all that great either. (Eggs Benedict and chicken fried steak) and the repoort is "theyre ok". The reason i think it deserves one star is because the bathroom was really nicely decorated and very clean with no line to wait. Which is unusual for a full house but I guess I git lucky.I did notice a sign posted on the inside of bathroom door asking customers to leave a positive review. Definitely not worth the wait. Dennys would have been far more fulfilling and Dennys isn't all that great in my opinion. But don't take my word for it. You'll probably just have to find out for yourself... if you have a few...
Read moreI wish I could give a 5 star review… Blueberry Hills goes way back in our family as a yearly tradition to bring our families. It has always been a fun experience, Victor is so very nice and welcoming. My family and I visited here yesterday and had a great experience although it took too long to get our food. (I’m ok with it, as it’s a popular place I understand) In deciding today where to go my daughter suggested we go to Blueberry Hills again, her words “they are friendly and I feel good about supporting their business.” I agreed so we took my parents out for brunch (they live in Manson) here again today. As soon as we walked in the door the gal behind the counter had an attitude. My mom said wow your pie looks amazing can I have a mixed berry slice please? She rudely responded by saying “once you pay for one I’ll get it for you.” We asked about milkshake flavors and she was just extremely unfriendly in her tone and body language. Later during our meal she came out and asked us, again in a rude tone… “are you going to be buying anything else because I need to close my till.” After we said no and she left I went in to ask for take home boxes where she responded “there over there” and pointed. The only choices were small and smaller. So then I looked at her again extremely frustrated and taken back by this point and said “do you have any bigger ones for my salad? She looked at another gentleman who worked there who kindly helped me get one while she continued to sit on her but at the table making boxes. It was very apparent no “boss” was there and she was just doing whatever she felt like.
Her name is Capri because I asked her. I told her I was very unimpressed by her service and she proceeded to try and argue with me. What a disappointment after spending $135 and tipping 25%. It’s a shame one employee can ruin something you once held as such a great...
Read moreOur visit was filled with highs and lows. We knew what to expect through word of mouth and online research. It wasnt busy when we arrived at 1 on a Monday. We found a table upstairs that we had to wipe off ourselves.
The blintz: perhaps the best Ive ever had and big enough to share between 5 people.
The eggs bene: really good sauce, but the eggs were slightly over cooked with hard yolks. Hash browns were good.
The Yeast Waffles with peaches: delicious, filling and great flavor.
Biscuits and gravy: terrible. The gravy had a tang to it like lemon zest was an ingredient, more spicy than sausage gravy should be and overly salty. My son made it 4 bites in and gave up. My wife and I each tried several bites and also found it unpalatable.
The Cheeseburger: about average. Fries were good.
Chicken Teriyaki with rice: i ordered this with crispy chicken and fries instead of rice, but when our food showed up to our table it came as a teriyaki chicken sandwich with fries. I told the staff member it the issue and they took it back downstairs. A minite later the counter person who took our order came up and showed me the hand written ticket from when I ordered and pointed to a 14. She said i ordered the sandwich and she repeated it back to me. I dont know the number system and when she repeated my order back she said crispy chicken teriyaki. She stared at me for a couple seconds and again said she read the order back to me. I wasnt going to argue at this piint so we took the sandwich. I worked and cooked in restaurants for over 10 years. You never go back to a customer and refuse to fix an issue, even if you are certain it was their fault.
Between the customer service, high prices and lower than expected food, this is the only visit my...
