Empanadas by Abuela — Restaurant in Kingsville

Abuela I finally decided to stop for a quick snack. Tucked away on the side of a building, it's kind of hard not to drive by Empanadas by Abuela without even knowing it. A small shop with two tables to enjoy your meal, however, I'd much rather take my order to go.

I was greeted by a gentleman who I presume is the owner, who was very nice. Since I was only stopping for a quick snack, I only had plans to try one of their empanadas. I was set on the chicken however, they were all out, so I opted for their Hawaiian empanada. Which to my surprise, was quite tasty. Empanadas by Abuela was SO GOOD. After driving by countless times we finally stopped in! The meat inside our empanadas was well seasoned and flavorful. The Aji sauce was absolutely delicious with the right amount of heat. The Hawaiian empanadas took us by surprise and ended up being our favorite of the three we tried. The stringy gooey cheese inside was scrumptious.

There’s limited seating area that they’re working on expanding. We were able to sit in a booth in the connected building and were totally fine with that. It was nice eating our food while it was hot and fresh.

The service was A+. The gentleman at the counter was so kind. He did an excellent job telling us about the menu. We also appreciated the other gentleman who was doting on us to make sure we were warm enough in the other room. Very considerate.

We live right down the road from Empanadas by Abuela and have been wanting to try it. We saw they were open late which we love because there is not much food of quality that you can get late in the area so that was a cool plus for us! We ordered 3 empanadas to go and walked home to eat them. Our walk is about 10 mins and the food was still hot, crispy and just wonderful. The empanada was so fresh, I wish I had ordered two for myself instead of just one!! The food was so good I called them to tell them how much we enjoyed them 😊 The service was wonderful; owner/staff were extremely friendly. We will for sure be back. And soon!!!
