I have to give an honest review on this one....I try to only review when there is something I would really want to see in a review. As a hard working family, this was set to be a nice evening out. I do not mind one bit spending a few dollars on a good meal. I have heard so many good things about this place and maybe our visit was just an off night. I was not impressed at all. The location is lovely, the pond is cute and the ducks are very friendly...but the restaurant portion is very dated. Nothing in the restaurant area screams farm. The servers are very friendly. The place does seem very clean. The turn over is quick and they have it down to a rhythm. The food is what disappointed me the most. First, we received the starters before we were addressed with a welcome from our waitress or even a drink order. I find that very odd. The food itself was very very bland. Little to no flavor. (Except the sugar buns they were were sweet and yummy). Now, I must tell you I'm a person who uses very little spices so for me to say bland....it was bland. Thinking of it being a farm and the way it is advertised I was thinking this would be more fresh, tasty, and filling. The main meal portions were very very small. For the price, it should be double the food or half the price. The crabcake did not seem broiled at all, no color to it what so ever. (I wish I would have taken a picture) It was soggy but I will say it did have jumbo lumb crabmeat with little to no filler. It was smashed down also, something I have never seen. One of our meals also had a piece of under cooked chicken. The pork chop was very tasty and probably the best choice of all the entrees we ordered. There were 11 in our party. The steaks seemed to be cooked very well to order. The sides were very very bland. The green beans were mushy and just green beans. The corn, while white, not sweet or buttery. There is plenty of parking and the bathrooms are clean. The restaurant area is hussle and bussle, it's like a cafeteria style environment. Loud and fast moving. I would not say it is not kid friend but if you have a child who is easily effected by this type of environment, I would like you to know that. Again, I wanted to give an honest review from my point. I hear a lot of good things about this location but for the trip there (for us 50 mins)and the cost(over $500 for party of 11 tax and tip included when paying for meal. We did leave a little extra on the table after our meal as we did appreciate the service ), it is not somewhere I would visit again. It was a nice evening and something to say we tried. Hopefully your...
Read moreMy family and I have been attending Friendly Farms as a tradition to honor my Nana for many years. This year, however, was a different kind of experience. From the rude lady at the front taking orders to the unnecessarily ignorant waitress that we had, this was one dinner we did not want to remember.
My aunt and uncle went to purchase their meal and were greeted by the front lady taking orders with nothing short of ignorance and attitude. They had a VISA gift card to pay for their food, and instead of explaining that they do not take those, we had eye rolls and she stated, "well I still need a payment", all while rolling her eyes. My 1 year old was fussy and screamed and another eye roll and huffing and puffing from the lady.
Once we all finally paid and walked to our table, yet another attitude was given from our waitress. We made a reservation INCLUDING my 1 year old daughter, which meant, we needed room for her highchair. Since they did not account for the highchair, we were asked to cram in and my sister and I then sat at the end of the table.
As the food started to come out, down our end of the table, the waitress started just throwing the food down and my daughter ended up putting her hand in a hot bowl of corn of where she threw the bowl. All in all, I could go on and on about the unprofessionalism of this waitress, we never even got a name, all I know is she had a blonde/grayish bun on top of her head. I witnessed her on multiple occasions (right after I would ask for something, you know, because this isn't my kitchen, we needed her to grab them), she would go to another waitress by the drinks and I saw her say "What am I a mind reader?" I was a waitress for 20 years and I have NEVER been treated that poorly. Any other waitress that we would ask anything from, one took a group pic for us because we were too nervous to ask our own waitress, and she was an absolute sweetheart! At the end of the meal, she even argued with me about ice cream for my kid's meal and how I bought a shared plate but she could see I had a kid's meal right in front of me.
All 15 of us stood outside after dinner and just stared at each other in disbelief that we were treated so poorly. I am so sad that after 20+ years of my family getting together we had to end the day honoring my grandmother stunned that we had such a bad experience, and for the price that we paid. Sad, sad experience. I hope no one gets this waitress and that she ends up reading this so she can see the impact a bad attitude as on an...
Read moreFriendly Farm Restaurant is amazingly different from any other restaurant I've ever been to. The reason I say this is because when you enter, you go to the cashier and pay for your meal. They have menus available for you to choose from while standing in line waiting to pay. You then get seated and the "entertainment" begins.
The place is crazy busy, and the waitresses are moving around like crazy! 1st they bring you your drink and homemade rolls and mini sugar coated doughnut like bites. Then they bring the appetizers, small bowls of; red beets, cole slaw, baked apples, cottage cheese & apple butter. The other unique thing is that EVERYTHING is included in the price of the meal, appetizers, sides, beverages, and dessert, with as many refills of beverages or sides you want!
I had their FANTASTIC Fried Chicken!!! 4 pieces of super crispy unbelievably juicy & tender fried chicken, where you're guaranteed to take some home with you because they were huge pieces! My wife got the Orange Roughy, which was the entire fish, 2 LARGE filets that had her taking an entire one home! Along with the entrees, you get a bowl of; green beans, corn, & french fries! After you've eaten (however much you can of) your meal, you finish up with a small bowl of ice cream, the Moose Tracks I got was full of chuncks of everything, and my wife's pumpkin was the exact flavor you'd want!
I can't recommend Friendly Farm Restaurant enough! It will certainly become one of our regular favorite...
