I'll be frank, if you were thinking about visiting Westminster Island Green, save your money and stay home. If this outing is an excuse to hang out with friends, trust me, you will have a better experience by staying in your back yard.
We rented the "private room" for an outing of ten and regretted our decision quickly. The private room is an open patio with a table, chairs, and some couches. This isn't a problem, but $125 for open space is a little ridiculous. In this deposit includes a $50 "food minimum." However, there is absolutely no food available at the venue. Occasionally they have food trucks, but this is not included in the minimum. Essentially you have to spend $50 on alcohol and soda. This would be especially difficult for underaged patrons. Beware, it is possible for the venue to run out of CO2 which will take soda out of the picture. You are allowed to bring your own food if you want to save money on the food trucks. Let's be clear, the food trucks are not the issue here. The problem lies Westmisnter Isalnd Green themselves and their misleading websites.
The biggest issue at Westmisnter Island Green is the lack of proper communication. Everything I explained about the minimum above was something that we had to discover upon arrival. One of the first miscommunications occurred when we went to the front desk to request our buckets of golf balls (you receive four buckets of balls for the driving range, but you must bring your own clubs). We were handed a receipt and not told what to do with this slip of paper. None of us are major golfers, so we did not know that you visit a machine for golf balls. We asked about the golf balls about 20 minutes later in the politest way possible. This excessive niceness was met with nothing but hostility. One of the employees (I did not catch her name), yelled at our messenger and assured her that we had received the balls. Which we had not. She then came to our patio (aka "private room") and demanded that we go calm down the "very angry lady" who was yelling at her (all of this is untrue). We explained the occurrences of miscommunication, maintaining our polite composure, and eventually recieved the buckets of balls. However, this hostlitly was poorly recieved and not at all deserved. In general, we found the employees to be rather clueless and unnecessarily aggressive.
The employees had a very difficult time in delivering what was said to come with the room. We did not have any available receptacle for our trash. We were denied a waitress because they had a band. I do not understand the logic either. The lack of waitress was no big deal, just a surprise. They have a TV in the booth, and promised us remotes that we also never recieved. I have already told you the goofball fiasco. It was also a hassle to place our drinks on a tab for our minimum.
The one pleasant experience we had was the fact that they were willing to compromise and give us unlimited mini-golf. Mini-golf is NOT included in the price that you pay for the room. The only thing included are four buckets of balls for the range and the $50 drink minimum. Since we did not bring clubs because we were unaware of that requirement, they gave us 2 buckets and unlimited mini-golf.
We are cutting our losses, but I suggest staying home or finding a different activity to go to. I recomend visiting Thunderhead Bowling Alley in Taneytown or the Westminster Movie Theater. If you want an outdoor activity, Carroll County is full of beautiful parks. In short, do not visit Westminster Island Green, it is in no way worth the...

Read moreThis was our first time here should have left at the first bad experience it only went downhill from there. The gentleman at the counter selling tickets for the driving range was quite rude very unprofessional. Take note if you're coming to the driving range bring your own clubs they have none to offer. A little overpriced on the cost for a bucket of balls. Was there for a concert so we thought we would spend the day enjoying the different amenities. Try to eat in the restaurant bad news for those people who come as a group you cannot split your bill so either bring cash or you have to sit at different tables. Ordered an appetizer and burgers. Burgers are overpriced considering you don't even get chips and pickles with it had to pay extra if you want it fries. Appetizer arrived after we had eaten our burgers and was ready to pay the bill. It was very obvious that the wait staff was overworked and short-handed. The concert was good kudos to the band but honestly I could have seen them at a Carnival for free instead of having to pay. It was obvious that they were short-handed during the concert if you wanted a beer or other alcohol you had to wait in line for 45 minutes. Considering the concert was only 3 hours long you certainly don't want to waste that much time standing in line for a drink. Suggestion to management if you're going to have these kind of events you need to step it up a little bit and staff appropriately and not overwork your staff and another suggestion would be to ditch the computer system that you have that doesn't allow splitting checks. You're going to deter more patrons from coming because speaking for myself and the group of people I was with we will...
