Went there made simple order of "over easy eggs pancakes sausage pattys rice and beans", disgusting Eggs and pancakes came first, cold eggs hard as frisbee's, waited 5 mins for rice and beans, still no pattys. Gave back to cook and he microwaved eggs and pancakes. Came back with three plates, rice on one , beans on another and same eggs and pancakes on another, still no pattys. 5 minutes later brought me pattys that were hard and apparently from earlier in the day. Oh yeah they were cold too! Gave the food back, never took a bite of it, it was the first time iever didnt eat and sent food back in my life. Service was so slow and the girl at the register was so rude. She tried to charge me even though I never took a bite. I paid for the other person that was with me and she overcharged me for that. She couldn't understand that my eggs were cold and not overeasy, that the pancakes and sausage was cold and not freshly cooked and rice and beans were served later while food sat on my table. I was appalled that she tried to charge me even though they continuously messed up the order and in the end never got it right. I'll never go there again. I fell that I was a stranger there and they treated me as a no one. I hope if you go there that they'd have read this and try to treat everybody the same. What does it take to crack two eggs on a grill, pour some batter.next to them, put some sausage pattys next to that and then slap some beans and rice on a plate. I just can't get over the girl at the register, she was so uncaring and dismissive, she was blind to the customer and I'll be blind every time I...
Read moreRemember that TV show, Cheers, where everyone called out "Norm!" When he entered the establishment? Well, the staff at Norma's doesn't QUITE call out our names but nonetheless it has that ambiance, and we feel welcomed every time we go.
The food is ALWAYS good and their margaritas and horchatas are AWESOME.
When we eat in (About once a month - We are very busy otherwise it would be more often) we typically like to get the nachos and loaded fries to share (Along with the aforementioned Margaretas). We DO occasionally order platters of one type or another - They are all good.
My mother is not all that fond of Mexican food but there are non-Mexican food menu choices that she DOES enjoy.
When we have takeout (About twice a week - We call in the order so it's ready when we arrive) it's usually an assortment of the breakfast tacos. My husband is especially fond of the potato & egg tacos (To which we always request cheese be added - Yummy!).
This restaurant is hands down the BEST Mexican Food Resturant in the greater San Antonio area.
PS... We didn't know what's up with the giant chicken outside but my husband and I have named him Rocky (From Chicken Run). We are hoping the...
Read moreUnfortunately after going there several times we had to stop. The owner has become very greedy . She's very rude. For instance the final drawl was this...a bean n cheese that s should have cheese in it. My son ordered 2 bean-n-cheese tacos. We received and even the waitress agreed there was no cheese. She went to get more cheese and got into trouble Norma approached and said that more cheese would be 1,99. HA!! Then it came in a small small bowl. I told her if she keeps this up the community will stop coming as I have. Months later.... it's TRUE. Every time I drive by there are not many cars there D;own the street at Chili Verde it's always packed and we never have to worry about enough cheese or consistant price changes!! It's a shame we did like it at one point Maybe if she would too running this place right right and other people said so I we could give it another try. Many others agree with exactly what I'm saying even her...
