I wanted to love this restaurant. I mean I really, really wanted to love it. It's in a great location, convenient for me to call ahead and pick up an order that is still hot when I get home, which is a real feat in Fancy Gap which only has three restaurants. My deal-breaker issues were the BLT, which was, in all honesty, the worst sandwich I've ever purchased anywhere. I ordered four of them sight unseen. First, they were on a sub roll. Ok, but if that's the chosen bread, there has to be enough B, L and T to fill it up. There wasn't really enough to make a regular BLT--three sliced in half THIN tomato slices, a little shredded lettuce and the kicker: TWO slices of not even real bacon. I assume it was turkey "bacon", I really don't know. All this bounty was barely held together with a little bit of cheap mayo. I don't have a problem with off brand mayo at a restaurant, as long as it doesn't taste cheap. This does. On top of everything else, all four sandwiches were bone dry. Not a single one of us finished the whole thing, and we were hungry! Next time, I figured I'd try them out for pizza which HAD to be good because I had heard the owner of PitStop is/was part owner of Pizza Perfect in Hillsville. We ordered a large pepperoni with double pepperoni, which I was charged for. There was enough pepperoni for a REGULAR pepperoni, certainly not a double **see picture. The couple of burgers I've ordered were pretty good, but a little dry, they offer crinkle cut diner fries which are GREAT when dining in, but carry out is put into styrofoam which makes them stale and awful. Another win is the mushroom appetizer. A small styrofoam container packed FULL of breaded fried mushrooms served with really thick creamy ranch dressing--thick enough to be ranch dip instead of dressing :) There are probably enough mushrooms in an order to be a complete meal if you aren't starving to death. Sorry for the length of this review--I wanted to cover all the bases. Honestly I'll probably give Pit Stop another chance, but I'll have to make certain I know exactly what I'm going to get because another fail and we are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am usually not one to leave a review, much less a bad one. After the unprofessional service and rudeness of one of your waitresses, I felt the need to leave a disappointing review. I have been a loyal customer in your restaurant for the last several years. I eat here 1-2 times a week. Iām all about supporting local businesses. I also believe waitresses work hard and do not get the pay they deserve. Therefore, I always make sure to leave a good tip, no matter where I dine, and the majority of the time, I tip on to go orders, as well. Recently, every time I dine in, the wait is rather lengthy. Because of this, I choose to get my food to go. Yesterday I had a waitress tell me āyāall donāt leave tips on to go ordersā ācanāt make a living off of to go ordersā as I was getting my food. I wasnāt sure her point in saying that to me, as I tip 80% of the time on to go orders. I felt this was very unprofessional, considering I spend a lot of my money at your locally owned restaurant and eat here routinely. Some days I am welcomed politely by staff and other days, Iām ignored. This is not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but a big enough deal for me and others to take our money elsewhere. I donāt want to do that because I enjoy your restaurant and the food and atmosphere it used to provide. I understand people have a bad day, but the continuous rudeness from your staff needs to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is not a greasy spoon restaurant regardless how it might look from the outside to the uninitiated. This is a restaurant I wish was down the road from us in Durham. I was here last fall with my sister while staying at a cabin rental about 10 minutes away and returned today with my husband. Weāre both from PA and we know good Italian food. The Pit Stop serves fantastic, authentic Italian food in addition to great burgers and the crispiest fries. Delicious, crisp Italian garlic bread with real butter. Delicious green salad with romaine, tomatoes, green peppers, cucumber slices and sweet red onion, all fresh and crisp with a wonderful homemade honey mustard dressing on the side. In addition to the excellent menu, something for everyone, the staff greets you as you come in the door and our waitress, Emily, was as sweet as she was efficient. Saw my husbandās VFW cap and thanked him for his service. Every exit off an interstate should have a Pit Stop where folks can be treated with kindness and can be assured of getting a good meal. We hope to return next time weāre...
