Skyway Bar and Grill is an old school barbecue place, built in 1972 it is a one-of-a-kind building. Incorporating rustic, artistic and antique details including stained glass windows, big old chandeliers, large rock fireplace and more. This place is a museum all on its own. Basking in a forested Mt. Hood setting it is now has a barbecue themed restaurant, with house cured smoked meats, mac and cheese along with original sauces. The places has plenty of seating and a giant outdoor garden patio with music stage and a fire pit. They are known to host community events and entertainment. The menu has cheeseburgers, pastrami sandwiches, brisket, pork shoulders, smoked chicken, along with smoked Tofu for the vegetarian. A local pie shop brings in pies with are fantastic. The mac and cheese have so many options for addons there is something for everyone. This place is great, fantastic atmosphere and great service, which is surprising fast on a busy day. Grilled cheese, salads, smoked tofu substitute for any burger and or sandwich. Not a big menu, but enough for them to focus on making all the food good.

Just had my birthday dinner there last night while vacation in Rhododendron. We're in the middle of a small heat wave, and it's summer, so it was busy. We were a party of 6 so we were prepared to wait. Tracie, who I later learned was the owner, runs a tight ship. She kept her servers plenty busy and also made sure not to over seat. We were told 30 mins, not bad considering, we only waited 10-15 mins at most. Then we were brought into a lovely garden, that happened to be a bar and grill with a stage for live music. With lights strung in all the trees this thoughtfully planted, decorated and maintained oasis buzzed with happy staff customers as well as many butterfly's. After complimenting Tracie on her lovely place she invited us to take a stroll through the building. I don't even know where to begin, Tom and Tracie clearly like to have a good time and enjoy the space they created. The ambiance in this place is just so cool! As we waited for the food we thought, if the food is half as good as the service and ambiance we are in for a good meal! Y'all we were not wrong. Chef Jason and his kitchen staff threw down some mean bbq and all the delicious fixin's. I enjoyed the smoked (pulled) pork shoulder dinner with a cucumber salad with black onion dressing and coleslaw. It was everything I hoped it would be! The pulled pork was tender, juicy, pulled apart with ease and had just enough smoke flavor without being overwhelming. The cucumber salad was the veggie option for the night and perfect for that hot summer meal. I did add a bit of pepper to my slaw but it was the only thing I added and I generally do that everywhere. The chipotle bbq sauce was my favorite sweet with a gentle kick and a bit of smoke. My dining partners had fried pickles (frickles), cheesy garlic fries, a bacon blue cheese burger, a cheese burger, Mac and cheese with brisket, Mac and cheese with bacon, and The Ludicrous to name a few. Everyone LOVED their food, empty plates (and trays) all around. Of note (and I wish I could still eat) the garlic cheese fries looked amazing. The cheese sauce that was on the fries as well as the Ludicrous was a big hit. The frickles we're deemed the best we'd ever had. Our server was delightful! I wish I had caught their name. I'm not sure which was sharper, the blade next to their eye or their quick wit. They managed to work with a quick step and what appeared to be a genuine smile in the nasty heat. Their demeanor was friendly, kind, helpful and fun despite the busy night, the high temps and the heavy work load. In fact althought the staff were clearly busy it appeared Tracie was doing everything she could to run a tight ship and not over whelm her staff. Lastly the live music was fantastic! I wish I could remember the name of the band. They were a wonderful bluegrass quartet! Great choice for the atmosphere! We will be back anytime we come...

Servers were nice but the owner was horrible and the overall quality was lacking. I came in with my waterbottle and a diet coke; the host told me the OLCC doesnt allow outside drinks so I had to throw away my diet coke but she said I could keep my water bottle under the table.

As my group of 4 waits for a table at the bar as instructed some different white lady (presumably the owner) yells from across the room “Honey no you cannot have outside beverages in here its Oregon law” very rudely and makes me take it out to my car. First of all, do not call me “honey” unless you are related to me that’s so gross. I am very anxious/neurodivergent and I carry my waterbottle everywhere and no one has ever told me this at a restaurant. I cannot find any Oregon law anywhere online that says no outside food or drink (especially water??? come on). I couldn’t search while we were there as this place has no service! The restaurant in general seems very … appropriating Black culture… all Southern/soul food and Blues music with like 100 pictures and paintings of white people on the walls and obviously white owner.

I got a shirley temple and they didn’t give a cherry! My brother got a moscow mule and it was in a regular soda glass. My mom got an old fashioned with a bunch of little ice cubes. Just little things like why. And their food was cold. I tried the mac n cheese (though after being condescendingly scolded for the water bottle I didn’t really want to be there) and it immediately made my stomach hurt. Don’t eat here, though my family thought stuff tasted mostly good and the service workers are just doing their job, why does the owner have that rule and what white person made this place to begin...
