I'm a truck driver and I have driven by this place about 100 times. Unfortunately, it has never been at dinner time. It's either at 6am or 9pm. Today, however, it was about 430pm and I'm about 30 mins away from shutting down in Monticello, so I know what I'm hankering for....BBQ!!! I pull off the side of the road with my hopes high. I am greeted by the nice lady purveyor. I ask "Do you take a debit card?" Sadly, the answer is "no". (Cash Only) I am crushed. I search through my wallet and To find six measley dollars and begin to walk away defeated. The old man chimes in and asks "what do I have?" I told him only 6 dollars and he asks "what do I want?". I had originally intended on buying a couple of pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans and macaroni and cheese and was probably gonna spend at least $20 bucks but being that I was A charity case at this point I said "pulled pork sandwich and some baked beans. He looked at Ma and said "make It happen" I was shocked. We b.s.'d for a minute and I assured him I wasn't poor and I had intended on getting at least two sandwiches. He told his old lady to give me another sandwich but I politely declined and was just happy to get a meal for six bucks. I come through fairly often and will surely be back soon and will for sure make up for the half price meal I received today. Places like this are what America was built on. Ma and Pa shops and their obvious passion for something as trivial as BBQ'D meat, however, they made my god damn day and I will not forget the courtesy. I'll be back hopefully sooner than later and if you haven't been, I encourage you to give it a try, if not for just getting a real meal from some real people. You hear me truckers! Stop when you are passing through and bring some cash...I know you are sick of subway and MC...
Read moreOnly 1 star review I've ever given. I got the sampler worst brisket I have ever had reminded me of warmed up lunch meat no smoke ring and grey in color and no flavor. Ribs no seasoning grossly overcooked imagine end of the day ribs at a gas station, sausage was okay, cole slaw meh and potato salad pretty sure was store bought. But...the pulled pork was not to bad. Best of luck to the owners lots of things to balance...
Read moreStopped at Adobe Milling to buy beans one fine afternoon passing through. We asked them about someplace to eat, and they recommended "the guy across the street." Got the pulled pork sandwich and a couple of salads. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Yeah, we'd buy his food again. He knows...
