We were invited for fish fry dinner and dance with live music at Texas Pride Barbecue. As soon as you get there, get ready for off-road experience. A dirt parking lot with plenty of chuck holes and some muddy spots. Entering the restaurant, you go through the indoor dining area to the outside bar, stand in line to order catfish dinner and drinks. The person taking our orders was not knowledgeable about their menu and couldn't answer simple questions about their menu. She seemed ANNOYED that we were asking about their menu and drinks. When I asked about the beer selection, she said Mexican and American. What a stupid answer and certainly not friendly! (ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE) We ordered the fried catfish, and it was tasteless. The breading was very thick and had zero seasoning, and fish was on the mushy side and not fully cooked (not flaky). The fries and the hushpuppies were hard as a rock and fried in very old burnt oil. The band playing was very loud and shrieking. They had problems with their wiring and sound level. There's zero acoustics making the music louder. Someone came out to adjust the blaring sound system. Then, a staff member decided to sprinkle a white powder on the dance floor. The powder was flying up because of the huge fans on the ceiling. Customers were eating and drinking while this power was flying in the air! Texas Pride should follow their name and have "Pride" in service. The manager should step up to provide better service by checking food quality, prep the dance floor before serving food/drinks, check the sound system, and teach staff about their menu and most of all "customer service! " The indoor restaurant has a smell of old greasy food. The floors should be decreased to remove the odor. For now, I would not Recommend. But I will follow up at a future date for improvements. Texas Pride Management, I hope that views this in a positive manner. You have greater potential for improved success since you are the nearest restaurant and dance location in the area. You have many "New" housing developments in your area that can increase...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe restaurant is very nice except they donāt limit their customers from parking in front, and we canāt take the pictures in the angle we want. It was so upsetting. We were waiting for a black truck to leave to get a good picture, and a white van arrives and parks next to it. It is just rude. There are people who donāt think about others. Thatās not even a parking space, and they have plenty of space directly in front of the business for everyone. Anyways, so much waiting for the black truck to leave, and the new white van arrives and parks there, too. Look at the picture I provided of the parking lot and the touristic area covered with the white van for our pictures. We want the best view, and we struggled to get around the vehicle, and honestly, we didnāt get a great picture as we could have. Please be cognizant that people drive from far away to get a shot of the touristic timeless view of the restaurant decorative. Hello! Anyhow, the brisket and pulled pork is good. The tea is made with bad water. No sugar can rid the bad taste of the faucet water they use. The green beans are cooked with little to no salt and taste bland. The Pecan Cobbler is just amazing; I highly recommend it. The beans taste okay. The mash potatoes are disgusting. The potato salad tastes good. The macaroni is very good! Their barbecue sauce is delicious. I would definitely recommend they make creamed corn as a side because thatās a Texan favorite and work on seasoning on their green beans, beans, and mash potatoes to improve. Iāve tried better brisket, but itās still very good. I like how clean the restaurant is and cozy. I definitely recommend it to everyone. It was 25 minutes away from me on the highway. It still felt far, so if you go there, be considerate that people may want to get a memory shot of the whole view including the Texas Pride above. Be respectful and understanding. Some people only think...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped by Texas Pride BBQ on the way home from the local corn maze. I had heard this place was amazing and was also featured on DDD. It wasn't busy when we got there and it was only around 3 or 4 pm. We had guests with us and had about 12 of us. We ordered 2 family meals and easily spent over $150. The cost was not really an issue as it's about right with any other bbq place. Issue was the food and service. We tried to order a variety of meats only to be told they were out of chicken and turkey, so we had to settle for just brisket and ribs. Then we got to the sides. Our food sat up on the counter while they proceeded to get the next 3 people or so after us first, just because they were parties of 2. I'm ok with that if one person was handling them while another handled us, but why should our food sit there getting cold while they wait on everyone else. We got our sides and bottled drinks and sat down. Then, we realized we had no plates. With a party of 12, you would think they would have asked because they don't give you any extra paper for plates. The corn, beans, peach cobbler, and potato salad were all very good and fresh, and the potatoes were cold. The ribs were fall off the bone but did not have much flavor. Definitely have had much much better. The brisket was good as well and very tender, but again, not the best we have had. The atmosphere here is amazing, with plenty of seating, concerts, events, memorabilia all around, a kids playground, and more. It is definitely a take your out of town guest too kind of place. Overall, I'd probably give it another shot as the food wasn't bad. I'd say it's a middle of the road bbq place, it's the atmosphere that draws people there. Food rating mostly because they were out of 2 main meat options. Despite the 3 stars, you will probably be happy if you stop by. We just weren't that...
