I can't give more of a review than what I've got, lol Yesterday was my 1st trip and possibly, sadly, my last to Red Top. Now, it isn't for reasons most would assume. I placed my order by phone. So, me being who I am and my gut issues as they are. I should have been more clear but most likely had been better to do in person. I looked online to see if they had beef tips. I didn't, however, see that they came with rice and gravy in heavy seasonings. Now, had I been anyone different with a better gut health. This would not have been an issue. Unfortunately, for me. I don't really eat rice anymore for many reasons, and I just....started carnivore. So my mind was on just the beef tips, and I ordered 2 eggs scrambled with cheese. (Yes, I know a true carnivore doesn't bother with cheese), but I said I just started 😆 I didn't think anything else about it and was actually so hungry I figured I'd munch on the tips on my way back home. Instead, I go in, pay, and grab my bag, noticing how heavy it was. I thought ohhhh I hope this isn't someone else's order." I look in and see a slice of cut bread (HUGE NO NO on carnivore), then I open the smaller container & see the eggs with cheese. I closed the lid and went on home, anticipating having lunch. Got in, unpacked. No, no, no...... the beef tips were laid on a mess load of rice and covered in gravy with loads of seasonings. The eggs weren't scrambled but hard fried with a slice of cheese over them. Then, as mentioned. There was the slice of toast. Now.....me being a fat girl, trapped in a skinny girls body!!! Not by choice. And I'm as southern as they come. This joint being a BBQ!!! I HAD to try everything. Yep, there went that damn diet for the day 😆 don't get me wrong. Those tips were awesome!!!!! IF I still eat rice. It would have e been perfect with them. I took a few bites of eggs/cheese. They had turned cool & the cheese was barely melted, which would have been easier if they had been on a sandwich rather than stand alone. Again, I should have gone in to order as they did appear to be busy. I eat half of the toast. Felt guilty bc I knew I wasn't supposed to have it, lol, but the half slice I had was great, too. Now, within less than 15 min. My stomach started swelling. Indigestion kicked in and the bloating, too. I was finished the rest of the day. Almost $22 for a total order of food I couldn't enjoy lol but at least the hubby did.
Now, IF I could go eat here again. I'd just like to make a couple of suggestions. Please make sure the menu posted on Google is legible for EVERYTHING you have with current costs of said items. Also, print some menus out for people that don't get online. My mother in law is 84. She's bed bound. Doesn't use Google to look menus up lol so that may be a great way of getting more business (not that the business seems to be hurting at all yet never hurts for it to do even better 😉) And on those beef tips. Toss enough in there to make a difference with all the rice/gravy. I'd have paid $22 for just the tips and eggs/cheese 😆 the tips were absolutely amazing but sadly, just couldn't enjoy them and I'm sure it's impossible to make them as a standalone menu item without all the gravy and such. Ugh I wish because I'd order daily 😆 🤣 😂
As far as parking. It's hard to get into the parking lot if you're coming from the south end. Traffic is absolutely a nightmare on 98. I didn't get to see much of the place, but it was a cool little place. Seemed to have a decent amount of places to sit. Kids could go with their being no issues. Mayne one day I can go back and pig out 😆 enjoy it if...
Read moreDriven by thousands of time parking lot always packed. Always seen smoke coming from the smoker out front. Finally made special plan to come in for dinner was not disappointed. Husband got the ribs they was fall of the bone delicious, fries and slaw (slaw wasn't the greatest), my father got the catfish, fries and fried okra, mother got ribs fries and fried okra, brother got catfish fried okra and mac & cheese (it was the best mac & cheese I've had dining out, it really is homemade), sister-in-law got breakfast Belgium waffle and bacon, and I got the brisket fries and fried okra (I'm glad I didnt read the 1 star reviews that talk about small portions before cause I might not have ordered it but I'm glad I did!!) It was all excellent except the slaw. I'm a big girl myself and the brisket while yes was 3 slices I had plenty after giving every in my family a decent sized bites to try. The okra was cooked perfectly golden brown outside and tender, hot inside. The ice sweet tea was good. It was good going out to eat (something I haven't done since covid started. It was nice not to be forced to wear mask just to walk to table like other places I have heard make you do. Our table was clean from what I could see they cleaned pretty regularly)
Not sure of some of the lower star reviews. It was kinda slow service but the food was worth it. When there is 6+ a toddler, we need a little more time to look at the menu and to decide on what we want. But they came around asked if we need anything else or refills so yeah I'm good. We did see several other tables of 2 come in order & get their burgers before we got ours plates but burgers are easy. Ribs & brisket cooked low and slow definitely ain't like Sonny's (sonny's is cooked off site frozen and just reheat in...
Read moreI AM SO HAPPY WE STOPPED AND ANGELA OUR SERVER WAS THERE!!! YES ! They serve BEER!!!! AND FRESH SMOKED DELICIOUS PIT FOOD !!! There isn't much in the area as we were passing through on a motorcycle around noon, on a Saturday, so we stopped to use the restroom. And decided to have a round of beer! However, the aroma of meat smoking, was irresistible. We were not very hungry but wanted to taste what was cooking. Angela offered to pack us the food so it would not leak in our saddlebags. However, we decided to stay and have it fresh.. that was the best idea. The place was half full, with multi-generational families, plus some construction men, on a lunch break. Angela had us sample brisket, pulled pork . All so moist, tender and delicious. They have a mustard sauce and a BBQ sauce. The others loved one or the other I I didn't . Angela suggested I mix the two. AND WOW THE flavor was AMAZING! Tangy-sweet- spicy! So We ordered the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches with sides of baked Mac-and cheese. The bun was fresh and just right. The Mac and cheese was fresh baked, hot and just right gooey As we were finishing up, Angela and the other lady server( I didn't get her name). Had us sample fresh baked beef tip and rice, with like black pepper spice. WOW !!! Wish we were more hungry, that was also delicious They had delicious desserts too! I forgot to ask for some to go! Angela and another lady were so friendly, that we wished we lived closer and be able to stop by more often! The place was very busy with take-outs. All employees and owner was friendly and helpful . Definitely a stop for when next we are riding through!...
