Wowsers! I love these little restaurants that are opening with true farm to table offerings. Most are savvy and sharp about their menu, which is why I found a fondness for Primrose.
They had a limited, but perfected menu. That is key folks... If you end up at a farm to table establishment with a menu a mile long, you can plan on an underwhelming experience 4 of 5 times... True culinary artists concentrate on making the most of the revolving season's offerings and make every attempt to attain their yummies locally.
Primrose made us a great meal of high quality ingredients, offered us a fantastic cocktails, and coupled us with a fantastic young waitress offerings stories of a loaded car ride across America, only to end up in Corning quite unplanned.
Our experience was top tier. We drove from NE of Des Moines to try it and we'll be back. I wish it was closer. For those of you near it, you're denying yourself memories and great experiences by avoiding a meal at Primrose.
First rate food, caring staff, and cocktails that exceeded my high expectations. What a great...
Read morePrimrose is a farm to table place with a chef that grows his own food. A high end restaurant that stays on the affordable side. This is definitely a place to make a drive to if you aren't from Corning. If you are from Corning I noticed they keep affordable options available so you can go regularly. They had a good beer selection and a fair amount of wines available with a full bar. It is an open airy atmosphere with good lighting and comfortable seating. I had the Waygu beef cheek and a medley of root veggies. Prepared well the beef was fork tender and the veggies had a nice flavor and were cooked right. In other words not to a mush. That was 21 bucks. I'm guessing in a big city it would be closer to 40. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable wich is required in fine dining. They must be able to define the dishes and sell them. Overall I really enjoyed my meal and...

My steak I ordered medium so if they over cooked it I could get my medium well. Worked out nicely. My husband order rare, and he got beef jerky, VERY well done. He barely got ½ of it down before giving up. He did tell the waitress it was easy over cooked but explained that he didn't want to send it back and have to wait another hour + for a new steak. She said sorry, it's probably because there's so much good coming out of the kitchen right now. 🤔 Ok. Overall it was just not worth the $100+ for 2 adults and 2 older children to eat. No appetizer even on that bill, no alcohol, just our dinners....
