The Landing at Bluff's Landing — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

Previously posted a raving review because we had a great experience. Return customer last night - TERRIBLE. We sat at a table and went up to the bar, as no one appeared to be taking care of customers. I was told we had to order from the bar and did I want to start a tab?? I said this is a restaurant, don't you have a waitress. I was told no, that I had to leave my card at the bar and order from there. I said I wasn't trying to be rude, but last time we had a waitress and I was confused apparently about how it works eating at a restaurant. Ordered the nachos (they were delicious last time). They were subpar, and lacking jalapeños, even though that is a standard ingredient, listed on the menu. By the time I was able to get jalapeños, the nachos were nearly gone. Street tacos were just okay this time. What a disappointment. Servers acted like we were a burden, and they were rude. We were the only people inside dining, so I am not sure why the service was terrible. I am not sure why our nachos lacked jalapeños. I am not sure why I had to leave my card at the bar when I was dining in. We left shaking our heads. Not sure we will come back. Super disappointed.

We shared a plate of loaded nachos and they were really, really good. Then we had street tacos and a chicken sandwhich. Everything was delicious. They have a nice selection of beer on draft. Our server was attentive and friendly. Really nice atmosphere. Outdoor overlooks the laguna Madre, indoor there is live music, pool table, foosball and other games, the music isn't so loud you have to shout at whom your with to be heard. And it wasn't an ice box in there, so we could relax and stay awhile. A really, really nice night out for us. Hoping they expand their food menu. We recently held our Squadron Holiday Event at this venue. It is in a great location! Katy and her staff were awesome! They were very accommodating regarding setup, breakdown, and general flexibility over what we wanted to do based on what they had available. We had approximately 100 people show up, and us planners got really good feedback about how awesome the venue was with the ambiance, decor, and privacy of the location. This was the second time we've used this location for the holiday event, but this year, the greater flexibility reduced the stress on the planners to get everything setup with more time than the planned one hour prior. It closed now, but when it was open the service was hit and miss. Was really never happy or satisfied with the service. Actually not surprised it shut down.

This review was about the old Laguna Reef restaurant and not the current establishment. Once this edit on my review is published I will be deleting my review on the old Laguna reef restaurant.
