Bubba's is one of those true gems. Genuinely great food, excellent service, good prices, and an overall lovely vibe. Even the bathrooms were lovely. If you're in need of a meal and either passing through the area or visiting nearby Mesa Verde National Park, you'll thank yourself for stopping at Bubba's.
It's clear they take genuine pride in their food. Everyone was happy. They have a diverse menu with options to suit everyone. I had the pulled pork sandwich, my husband had the prime rib sandwich special, and my stepson had the Reuben. We also shared a piece of their freshly baked blueberry pie a la mode, which was awesome. I should also note that the fries -- which at some diners are an afterthought, a throwaway add-on -- were roundly beloved by our crew. Thin, fresh, a little crispy, and salted just right, they made me wish that fries could always be exactly like these.
Our waitress couldn't have been nicer. She was precisely the right amount of attentive, and we never lacked anything.
When my husband was at the neighboring gas station, a local had asked him, "But why are you here, if you're headed to Mesa Verde?" The implication being that -- since Mesa was only a little further down the road -- he honestly couldn't understand why we'd bother to stop in their microscopic town. At the time, my husband's answer was that we needed gas and figured we may as well stop for lunch. Turns out, it was to give Bubba's a chance to do for us what it's probably been doing ably for years: show us what a real American small-town diner...
Read moreThis place was a great find, don't let the outside deceive you!! We were driving through Cortez and decided on Bubba's for dinner on the way out of town... soo glad we did! We all got sandwiches to go and they were delicious. You could tell they put pride in what they make and don't just slap it together! They also made sure we had the correct utensils, napkins, and drinks to go! Thank you for the amazing service and food! And as a final touch German Chocolate cake! Also, they were open for Dine-in, even though Google said otherwise at the time. Nice A/C and comfortable...
Read moreWent on Friday night, also prime rib night. Only two other ppl in the place at 6:15 pm. Should have been an indication. Everything tasted packaged and precooked. I love Navajo tacos. This by far was the worst. What was supposed to be green Chile was horrid. Tasted old. Daughters prime rib was definitely not fresh. Total fail all the way around except our waitress was very nice. Other than the fact that she didn't question or seem concerned that none of us hardly touched anything. Next time I decide to drop $100, it will be somewhere...
