Have been a Coventry resident for numerous years, Coventry pizza has always been our go to restaurant. I have never once had such an awful experience with a waiter/ waitress at Coventry pizza as I did this evening March 9th, 2024. Waitress Erica was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Upon us ordering she was extremely rude. She looked very annoyed because of our order. We ordered a grinder with vegetables and requested that only the jalapeños are toasted and vegetables be put on last. We have ordered this in the past even over the phone for take out and never had an annoyed staff member also always done correctly. We had a group of 6 and had to wait around 40 minutes for any of our food to be put on the table. When we did notify the staff of the long wait magically we got our salads, appetizers and hot food all at once. The grinder we ordered was absolutely disgusting and extremely unappetizing. Erica had came back to the table and I showed her that the tomatoes that were supposed to be put on after were cooked into the bread. This made the entire grinder fall apart and extremely soggy. Erica tried telling us that the cooks did not toast the tomatoes.. as the tomato’s I showed her were falling apart in my hand due to them being cooked. Erica proceeded to come back to the table we had tried showing and telling her how soggy the bread was and falling apart she did not say a word and just walked away which is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. If an order is made incorrectly we would have no issue waiting to have it remade. However that was not an option for us since Erica did not care at all and just walked away without saying a word. The only option Erica gave us was to bring fresh tomatoes and onions. Which we only received 4 fresh tomatoes for a Giant grinder. Erica proceeded to ignore us each time she came back only speaking to the other side of the table. On my way out I overheard her bad mouthing us to customers. While bad mouthing us to customers I had asked Erica for her name and she ignored me I had to ask twice. After I did get her name she proceeded to make a rude remark to the customer that I had asked for her name. This IS ALL EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. If Erica or the cooks had made a mistake we had no issue just wanted our food to be made correctly and be edible. I have never had an issue like this happen at this restaurant. Safe to say I will only order take out from Coventry pizza from now on. My family and I will never dine at this restaurant again unless professional, respectful wait...
Read moreCoventry pizza has been decent in the past, enough so that I ordered from them today. I ordered one of their chef specials of Seafood fra diavolo, asked what was in it was told shrimp, scallops and cod fish. So I ordered, when I get home I realize they have calamari and clams in this overcooked super fishy smelling dish. I have an allergy to clams. So I call the restaurant they put me on hold for the owner. The owner gets on the phone and is argueing with me. She was difficult to understand and so I went back to the restaurant to get a refund for the meal. I had to wait for employees to find the owner and when they did find her she proceeds to stand there, make me continue to wait while other employees ring things into the register although I was there waiting. It was a simple mistake by a new employee who is learning the menu. An owner should be able to acknowledge their mistake and refund me immediately. There isnt anything to argue about. I work in a restaurant and I would Never treat one of my customers the way that I was treated. Telling me it was my fault, I should have said there was a clam allergy, but if clam isnt one of the ingredients that Your Employee listed to me AFTER specifically asking the chef what was in it when i ordered then that is their mistake. As the Owner you accept fault and give a refund. It's not hard and its basic customer service. I am extremely disappointed with how things were handled tonite and I definitely will Not be returning. I love to support local businesses, but this place isnt worthy, the new owner is awful! They charge you ridiculous amounts for any extras. I spent $20 on a house salad with grilled chicken, I added mozzarella and 1 hardboiled egg. There was a handful of lettuce, 2 full not cut grape tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, 3 slices of green pepper, 5 pieces of onion, and about a tablespoon of melted mozzarella for that price its ridiculous, but I paid. Unless someone new takes over this business I will not be returning. I cant tell what's worse, the customer service or the...
Read moreCoventry Pizza is near the lake in Coventry Connecticut. For me to get there it is a pleasant 3 mile ride thru Nathan Hale State Forest. We have been going there for many years, and it's always a satisfying experience. The new owner made this a superior restaurant I highly recommend.
They have beer, wine, and a full bar. They also have a kid menu. We enjoyed Antipasto Salad on a previous visit, it was great. I also like the Fisherman's Platter. They do take-out pizza and grinders. Sit-down can get appetizers, steak, veal, pork, fish, chicken, seafood, burgers, fries, pasta, salads, veggies, and desserts.
This time we went on a Friday night. Liz had Veal Cutlet Parmesan, and I had Baked Lasagna. Both had a delicious red tomato sauce and lots of mozzarella. Both had great taste and texture.
We will go back for breakfast on weekends. They open 7 am on Saturdays & Sundays. On menu; eggs, home fries, ham, bacon, sausage, omelets, French toast, English muffins, pancakes, & bagels.
Coventry Pizza, review #2 Breakfast review: Liz and I went for breakfast Sunday 11am. Our waitress, Kim, told us about the specials and I was interested in the "Italian Omelette". Liz got blueberry pancakes and bacon, which she loved. My Italian Omelette came with delicious potatoes, and toast (I like my toast dark). Inside the omelette was sausage, onions, peppers, cheddar and provolone cheeses.
Reggie is the chef. He says he also puts garlic powder inside, and flips the omelette over at the perfect time to melt all the cheeses properly. After it is in the plate they pour marinara sauce and grated cheese across the top. It was truly amazing. This was the best breakfast I ever got anywhere. I took photos of our dishes (the first time I...
