Been going to howdy s place (old twintops)for over 40 years it was always a top of the line fish camp with great fish every time,NOT NOW!! The shrimp are 3rd rate cooked in last weeks oil.no more reorders or after 8 plates,no more ole time hospitality the filet flounder taste and looks like it came straight out of the box in the frozen food section of the grocery store.it’s really disappointing now that the new owners have taken over,do they not know this has been a landmark fish camp for over 50 years with dedicated customers who used to come from miles around just to be treated like they were a part of the place and eat the same good fresh cooked fish every time.now the green shrimp are mixed with calabash shrimp and paying full price for green shrimp also portions are cut in half and cocktail sauce is ketchup.it’s a shame a reputation that took generations to build up only took a year to be destroyed.no more all you can eat crab legs on Thursday’s no more dining in.I would have given them a minus 1 star if I could.the on line menu is VERY MISLEADING.I would rather pay more for first rate food than pay a little less for 3rd rate fish and cut the portions in half.there’s no other word for this fish camp but SORRRRY!they should change their name to something else to keep from disgracing the twin tops we all knew and we’re proud to be a part of,needless to say me or my wife will never go back under this management and grade of food served.tell everyone you know this is definitely not the place it once was,a total turnaround.and don’t blame it on covid eather.the best thing about the place is the pickle on the slaw.don’t be fooled over the 4.4 star rating either, most of those ratings were made before new management ruined it.

This place was totally awesome. First time going. Our waitress Angie was nice courteous and knew the menu. She gave us great food suggestions. Our food came out it was hot and fresh. Salad bar was on point. Everything was cut into nice pieces not big nasty chunks. My fish and shrimp was crispy just the way I like it. The restroom was clean. I will be going back. Give them a try. A big hoorah to the cooks! Sn: you will like the slaw here and my good friend Emery is back there cooking it up in the kitchen

Great seafood. Good service. Watch out with the portion sizes as they are HUGE! Honestly I felt bad about how much food I wasted. So, unless you have a huge appetite, order a plate to share.

OMG, the food was horrible - 1st time here after rave reviews by co-workers. Called in a to go order and this in itself was miserable; two doors for to go orders and those coming in the 1st door jump ahead of you because they didnt come in at the "To Go" entrance.

Waiting for one cashier to write your name down and process payments...$34 for my meal, not sure why for a "full" combo plate and a shrimp plate, but ok. Not sure I saw anywhere on the menu I could get a half plate, and I learned one could if asked, but again, ok.

Rush home excited about the meal and my first taste of my daughters broiled shrimp; I spit it out. The shrimp texture was mush in my mouth, doesn't taste like shrimp at all and then to mask the texture maybe, they add some seasoning on it...yuck!!!

Open my combo plate of S&P catfish and clam strips...hold up, is that a tail at the bottom of my styrofoam plate...I gently move some clams and see fins...OMG, does this fish have a head...oh lord, I am about to throw up...I close my eye, yep just one, and turn my head away so I dont get the full effect of a head...pull the fish completely from the plate...whew, thank GOD, no head.

I throw it back onto the plate, I proceed to taste a heavily breaded clam; tasted more breading than clam. I pull a piece of the fish from the bone, confused now...what happened to filet, and taste bland flesh, I did order salt and pepper.

The fish was soggy because they piled the clams, and french fries on top of the fish to catch all the oil from deep frying...huh, maybe the fish had a chance if it wasn't soaked in grease...but I still ate a few pieces cause I needed to feel like I wasn't throwing away my money.

My daughter tries to eat the shrimp but too cant get past the texture. We both eat a hush puppy, not bad...but I didnt pay to only eat hushpuppies.

Got our mouths ready for some seafood and got taken in my opinion...we ended up throwing away all of the shrimp, fries, hushpuppies, three pieces of fish and most of the clams.

Ijs...4.4 stars...I dont see why or how, to each his own, but we...

It is with a heavy heart that I have to write this review. Twin Tops Fish camp has been a staple of Gaston county for generations. I'm 55 years old and I've been eating there since before I could walk. In the past year Twin Tops has come under new ownership. We ate there the other day for what might be the last time. Why? The after 8 plates have been cancelled. The reorders, which as far as I know are exclusive to Twin Tops have been cancelled. My favorite meal, salt and pepper green shrimp and onion rings are no longer what they were. This is the only time that I've not been able to eat every single shrimp on my plate. The onion rings have been changed, the shrimp seems to have been changed. My fiancee always gets the salt and pepper talapia which is always cooked to perfection it was to hard to eat this time. I asked about some of these issues when I was there last and the reason she gave for all of the changes..money. Their cost for seafood has gone up. Sorry. Not good enough. The Smith family has run Twin Tops for generations through recessions, inflation's, family tragedies, etc. Never once has the quality of food dropped even slightly. Most every other restaurant in the area has their dining room open, not Twin Tops. Maybe the new owners don't understand exactly what Twin Tops means to the people of this area. Unless it gets back to what it was we won't be going back. Id rather have the memories of what Twin Tops was...
