Amsler Cafe — Restaurant in Crawford

Positives: Historic building is cool and the ambiance was okay. We were seated quickly (party of 8). The staff seemed to be trying their best.

Negatives: We were given different menus, but the items were inconsistent across them so right out of the gate it was unclear what could be ordered. Several people were interested in the chicken fried steak, but we were told it wasn’t available. Then heard that they’ve never had it? Why not say something as you’re handing them out? Pizza was also on the menu. At least it says that pizza is served while supplies last. We ask about it. We’re told they’re out, that’s fine. Then someone else (Owner? Manager?) asks what we’re looking at - someone mentions pizza but that we were told they’re out. He acts surprised, and goes to check. Then the waiter comes out and asks how many pizzas the table is interested in, we tell him two pizzas. He goes back, THEN comes and says it can’t be done…we wasted 15-20 minutes just trying to figure out what we could order. Several more typical issues: Food was mediocre to average. Most of it lukewarm. Regularly having to ask the waiter for refills on water, generally slow service.

A restaurant here deserves to do well, and if they aren’t offering service that is worth the time and money to visit, they should know it. Hope they can iron out some of the issues that we...

Had dinner here for the first time. They get really busy some nights, and you have to wait to be seated. So come prepared to wait, they are popular local place to eat. The place has hard wood floors so it is kinda noisy place, this is a family eating atmosphere. The staff are nice people and got us seated pretty quickly. We did have an issue with ordering. Our appetizer came out last. I'm not sure what happened, but they took off the bill, so we didn't have to pay for it. I enjoyed the stake finger basket. the wife had a grill chicken salad. The salad came out with fried chicken, still pretty good. The waitress apologized for the mistake and offered to fix it. They need a bar menu to look over is one of the things I think they should fix. They did say they were looking into it. They are still working out the flow of things, it seems as all the reviews say. Other family members like the food. I am sure I will be going again and doing food pick up to go for family. I look forward to trying the rest...

The service and atmosphere is fabulous. This was our second visit and first time to order pizza. It was the pulled pork BBQ pizza topped with onion, gouda cheese and mozzarella. It came out as cheese pizza. Very minimal pulled pork and onion (total of four tastes of pork on three slices of pizza). Visually there was no pork. A landslide of cheese ran off the pizza when we served ourselves. The pizza tasted good because we like gouda cheese; however, we ordered pulled pork pizza, not cheese pizza. We'll go back but we won't...
