Irishman's Shanty — Restaurant in Crookston

We stopped in and seated ourselves. We were the only customers in the dining room. Who we suspect was the waitress, sat on a step talking on her phone. We waited for over five minutes without being acknowledged, so we left. Never had such a bad experience here. Hopefully, the waitress will be more attentive after her phone call.

UPDATE: We returned today with additional family members. The food and service was what I have come to expect, excellent.

A couple of us had the rib special. Delicious. In fact one patron spontaneously belted out (to the tune of Billy Joel's The Longest Time), "Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, these ribs are fine. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, these ribs are fine." Although, I believe he did so on a bet, he was not wrong. The salad bar had a great assortment of selections to choose from, including fresh pineapple, cataloupe, and grapes... in February.

One member had the ruben and was very please with the taste.

Another had the bacon cheeseburger. They were pleased as well.

My wife had a new menu item, the boneless chicken wings. She chose garlic parmeasan sauce. She said they tasted good, but found they had a bit more heat than expected. My father in-law, who likes a little spice agreed that whole order would "make you sweat."

The service was great. The young lady serving us was pleasant, engaging, and attentive. The food wasn't bad - except I had a bad reaction to it physically afterward. I'm guessing something on the salad bar conflicted with me... The soup & salad bar is small but has variety and is clean and well presented. The baked potato I got to accompany it (as the soup was not GF) was well done and delicious. It came with a sour cream that had an indistinguishable spice atop it. Maybe that's what got me... it was yummy though. My friends enjoyed the breaded walleye and a Shillelagh sandwich with fries. The sandwich was a bit skimpy on the meat but the onion roll was fresh. In all, it fed us, but next time to Crookston, we'll be trying out the food in the local...

Well.....first off the server poured our drinks on our 8 year old and my mother. Now second reason......the food...we had to wait forever and a day (2 hours) to get our food and then we got half of it and it was raw and cold. The kids had to sit there and share with us because their food had come yet. Finally when we were about to leave the rest of our food. So the kids and my grandma didn't get to eat their food because it took forever. Now I used to work there....it was never like that. Never had to wait so long in my life at any restaurant. Needless to say it was just god awful. And now I have to drive 3 home after we finally get outta there at 10pm. I'm sorry to say I and my family were...
