Have been trying to take my wife here for well over 5 years.
We finally made it;
And let me tell you. It felt like an episode of catfish. All of the hopes and ideas of how the food and time there would be magical and a romantic experience for my wife who is polish was nearly instantly ruined by the owner sitting at the table next to us bragging about his money and status to a waitress. Who he yelled over from across the patio and forced her to say hi to his wife. It all seemed creepy and being very showy. It made it very difficult to want to even continue my meal, because I knew I was funding his vacation to the Maldives, or his skiing in Colorado, or his second home. All of these things we heard him bragging about to that waitress.
Generally if you have money, you dont have to brag about your money.
The service; All of the staff was phenomenal, they all were constantly handling the rush and chaos perfectly. 5 stars for the staff.
Now on to the food;
We ordered the taste of Poland at $33 a plate.
The Pierogi were boiled, and while that is traditional, pan frying is also traditional and has a better flavor and presentation and I truly couldn't tell what Pierogi had what filling inside.
The Golabki was good with a decent portion, and had an okay taste, but the tomato sauce tasted and looked like it was a store bought tomato soup that they added spices to.
The Kielbasa was very good, with good flavor, size and just a touch of spice. The highlight of my plate.
All in all the food was tourist priced, with generic Gordon Food Service Quality and frankly didnt even rise to the level of some of the food trucks at Muskegon Polish Festival or Pulaski Days.
The highlight was the view. It truly is a stunning place with awesome architecture and a view of the lake. The drive was a very nice one, though the tunnel of trees highway is a "one lane road" so we had to be careful of incoming traffic and were stuck behind a few bicyclists for a bit.
Leggs inn is worth the drive for the view, and the ability to say youve been there. But for truly good polish food other than my families... Well, im still...
Read moreI seen this place on line. Looked really nice. Wanted to take husband there for his birthday. We got there around 4 o'clock. They seated us right away. We sat down an a young girl waitress ask us what we would like to drink. We told her an she went back to get it. We looked at the menu an didn't know what to get. We have never been here before. The waitress came back an asked if we were ready to order. We said we guessed. My husband ordered the variety plate and it had sausage, pierogi, sauerkraut, cabbage rolls, kielbasa. I had goulash. The food was lousy. The sauerkraut was mushy, pierogi were doughy, cabbage rolls no flavor. He did say the kielbasa was not to bad, but not good. My goulash was very spicy. It had whole bay leafs left in it. Big chunks of beef, an pork with sauce over the noodles. The waitress never suggested anything to us. One of the other waitresses was explaining to the other table all about the menu an what she recommended. She was very knowledgeable about the place. We ate part of the meal an decided not to eat the rest because it was so bad. Needless to say the waitress never came over to ask how the food was or if there was anything we needed. My husband pushed his plate to the side an she came an ask if he was done. He said yes. She took his plate an never said anything. I sat my plate to the side an she took it too. She asked if we wanted dessert? We said no thanks. We told her we did not enjoy the meal. It was terrible. We asked for our bill an it came to $70.00. I had a water an my husband had a coke. No salad, soup or appetizers. This place was Very expensive. They also said we ordered off the lunch menu. My husband ask what the difference was an they said at 4:00pm it becomes the dinner menu an they charge more for that. Lunch menu was 31.00 an 30.00. At Dinner they add an additional $2.00 an give you a salad or soup. That was the difference. Needless to say we won't be back. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. Lousy food an service. Don't waste your money go get a Good steak...
Read moreI've heard about this place and how good it was for awhile. My wife,me, and a friend rode our motorcycles there through the tunnel. The ride was beautiful the location of the restaurant is beautiful, even the building itself inside and out is very beautiful that's where the good ends. The waitress seemed like it was an inconvenience to even be there. Very unfriendly and short. I figured it's probably because of how busy it was, everywhere is under staffed no big deal. The wierd very yellow lighting was off putting the indoor dining was very cramped and the food was awful. The poutine was 6 soggy fries covered in a stew that was all veggies and one square chunk of processed meat. My friend and I opted for the burger my wife got a chicken salad. The burgers were freezer patties with no flavor at all. The bacon didn't even save that burger. My friends response was the same. Part way through my wife's salad she found a long hair in it. At that point we were ready to hop on our bikes and head home. Before we left the manager came to our table and offered us dessert on the house ( honest admirable effort) we politely declined as we were on bikes ( didn't want to be sluggish) and it was getting late ( don't like riding at night) he got really persistent and pushy and seemed insulted when we refused ( about 8x). So needless to say not the experience I'd...
