Ox Lake Tavern — Restaurant in Crosslake

I so wanted this first time experience to be a good one.....unfortunately we had one of the worst meals we have had in the lakes area. The good......server was friendly and attentive, the drinks (vesper) were tasty and reasonably priced and the chips were awesome. But the dinner food? I had Mahi tacos. The Mahi was cold and dry, the fillings for the tacos were skimpy. My wife had the shrimp. They were deep fried and tasted stale and were very small. My wife's salad was supposed to come with tomatoes but we laughed when we saw the dinky tomato bits, it was drenched in a vinegar dressing that was so strong she could not finish it. I saw no creativity and no attention to ingredient quality. I like the menu selections but they need to get their act together as I want the new...

Very disappointed with our 1st visit. Drinks were great but the "small plates" were horrible. There were 5 of us that ordered food and drinks. Only 1 plate was very good. The gyro bites. The other 4 were a joke. Simple hamburger was so cold when it came to the table that the cheese was not even slightly melted. In fact it was cold to the touch. Philly sandwich (was the special that day) was so so at best. Zero flavor or originality Calamari was Luke warm and BORING. You could tell it was frozen from a bag and dumped it to the fryer. Meatball sandwich. NO flavor. Dry wings good taste but way over cooked. I live here (actually in Fifty Lakes) so I'm really sad as I thought it was going to be an upgrade from the Bourbon Room but it isn't. In fact the Bourbon Room's food was...

This is by far the most welcome addition to the Crosslake area. Everything about this place is FANTASTIC! By far the best cocktails you can get in the area...The espresso martini can't be beat. And the food...Wow. We've been here a few times since it changed from the Bourbon Room (thank goodness), and everything we have ordered has always been top notch. Some favorites are the Swedish meatballs (I've had this three different visits now, and each time I'm floored by how good they are), the fried chicken sandwich (one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had), and the Burrata. Chefs kiss! Plus, we've had the same server a few times (brown curly haired gal) and she's SO nice and always remembers us. Great service! We will always return to this spot when going up...
