It's so unfortunate that the food is very blan here. I thought I was just being sensitive to taste, but even my husband said something, and that never happens. We both couldn't even finish our food. He had a chimichunga with steak . It tasted like the comino shaker fell in it, but it had flavor. They use that white Monterey cheese. Yacate blah 🤢. I tried the Chile reno , nope 🙅♀️. The carnitas were cooked perfectly, but most of it was fat and fat without salt or any seasoning is yuck! The arroz y frijoles the same. NO calodo de pollo, little to no tomate, and I don't think they added salt to anything. It was like the beans were boiled, and that's it. I mean, if you've never eaten better Mexican food then I guess you wouldn't notice, but as a Mexican that grew up on it and knows the best places that serve bomb Mexican food I'd say it's a no for this place. I really was hoping for the best because the atmosphere on the patio overlooking the lake was perfect. My suggestion would be to go to El milagro in Cookeville with homemade tortillas. Another suggestion... hopefully, they read this, and you get an opinion from a person who knows the taste of Mexican food and ask them. Or get a cook back there that knows to come in and taste test everything. Kinda like you would for...
Read moreI placed a to go order. I wanted a Shredded Beef Chimichanga which I ordered one other time (they don't offer it on menu but substituted for me before). The girl said, "That's the steak chimichanga." I didn't think she was correct but ordered it anyway. I got home and had a strip steak NOT shredded beef and it had green peppers! The strips of steak were way over done first off between the "chewy not crispy shell" and the over done strips of steak I had to saw thru it to take a bite! Then there was a MOUND of green peppers. I have been eating Shreadded Beef Chimichanga's for 50 years and NEVER has it had green pepper on it. I HATE green pepper! I picked out huge strips of it it amounted to about 1/4 of a cup of green peppers on ONE chimichanga! If you dislike green peppers like I do you know even if you pick them off the flavor has already permeated the rest of the ingredients so it pretty much was a chewy green pepper flavored mess! I'd say between the large strips of onion's and green pepper's there was half that and half meat. (Very little meat) I paid $17.02 for...
Read moreWe were traveling through town and live in another state. This restaurant is a dining GEM! Don’t let the mundane storefront fool you. The atmosphere inside is authentic and lovely. Service was excellent and the food delicious.
The chips are light and crispy. The salsa is chunky and very fresh taking (the cilantro helps!). Best we’ve had in a long time. (Oh, and had a bowl of white cheese dip that you’ll want to drink out of the bowl. 😂)
We had two dinners: the chicken fajita and “crazy” burrito. The chicken was deliciously seasoned and tender, and the portion was large.
The burrito is a 12” flour tortilla was stuffed with grilled steak, pico and guacamole. It was topped with cheese sauce and chorizo. Amazing!
The rice and beans accompanying each meal were excellent.
The prices are very fair for the food delivered.
Many thanks to the staff for giving us a great...
