I hadn't been here in over two years and they have definitely changed. The food is good, but expensive, it was almost $100 for 5 people to eat, three adults and two kids. Crazy! We did a call in order and went to pick it up, they did forget to put my husband's apple pie in the bag so we didn't even get that after paying so much money, and they asked if we wanted to leave a tip for the chef, a tip for what? I get so tired of all these places insisting on tips for just simply doing their jobs, your job is to cook food, you didn't go above and beyond the service of what your job entails so why should you get a tip?! We didn't even eat inside to be served. Also, I'm sorry but you cook burgers and make bbq plates, that's not really considered being a chef, more like a cook. Anyway, because of the exuberant prices and tip insisting we probably won't be back. They've also seemed to change their BBQ, they used to smoke it on site, but it doesn't appear they do that anymore. It used to be a great affordable place to have a meal, but now it's just...
Read moreStopped at this local gem on the way to Montgomery. A nice scenic drive about 5 miles off the highway. A steady stream of locals keep the place packed with not an empty table to be found. The waitress was friendly and our food came out quick. I ordered the pulled pork with baked beans and fried green tomatoes. My husband and daughter added the macaroni and cheese to their plates. We were not disappointed! The BBQ sauce was sweet and smoky and my family thought it was some of the best they ever had! My favorite was the fried green tomatoes! Easily the best tasting I have ever had. The tomato slices were big, thick and juicy and the breading was flavorful and crisp and stayed on the tomato without falling off. Even the sweet tea was good! My husband ordered the pecan pie. It came out looking like a handmade pierogi. He instantly declared it as delicious! The prices were very reasonable. Definitely...
Read moreAfter watching an expose on absolutely alabama I loaded the fam and drove 1.5 hrs to eat at this place. I must have chosen the wrong time they were out of everything that I had chosen previously from there menu except for the bbq. The meat was tender and just ok for a place that's out in the middle of nowhere. The sauce was just ok as well. From what I could tell everything else must have been just standard frozen food service stuff since they were out of everything, I mean if it was homemade why not send someone shopping to replenish the supplies. I gave it 3 stars and a long review so that you would understand what to expect. They should keep the pit fired at all times as it is on a highway and the smell would stop a few cars, but it wasn't a cook day while I was there July 18th 2017. If your in the area stop by and try for yourself, hope the review didn't discourage .I think they were just...
