9/8/23 Update: So because we love the food so much at Louie's, We still continued to order takeout and dining in after all (at least a dozen times since May)... We still had one other experience dining in that wasn't great (also on a Sunday), but again the manager really went above and beyond too take care of us. The food is always fantastic, and I think that the biggest issue is on Sunday as it doesn't seem like there's enough staff so that's when things kind of go awry. So I changed Stars back to five because ultimately we decided it's worth having a possible bad day here and there in the mix.🥰
5/14/23 We've come in person and ordered to go multiple times. Today was incredibly disappointing on many levels. I wouldn't because leave only 3 stars for one bad day, bc I know there can be an off day with a person or establishment, but this is after multiple negative experiences.
The food, when we receive it correctly, is amazing. Jim and Gracie have amazing food and we were excited to discover an extension to our favorite restaurant (Gracie's on Main). But when we order to go, that's when we typically have a breakdown in getting the correct order. Today my husband even confirmed some questions we had about the order slip before leaving and we were assured that everything was correct but it was not.
I think what is most frustrating today is that we called an hour before placing an order to see if there was seating available or how long the wait was and we were told there was not and we'd have to wait until 2:00 before we could get in. So we placed to go order instead. And when we got there, another family came in did not have a reservation, and was quickly seated. We waited a long time for the food- almost 45 from when ordering, 15 min after arriving at the specified time, only realize after confirming the order and leaving that it was incorrect was exasperating.
So at this point, even though I love the food, I'm not sure that we'll be back. Definitely not ordering to go again after multiple fails. We'll probably just make the trip to Leola.
Would like to add that the manager did apologize and refunded us for the incorrect orders, which we...
Read moreJust to start off, the Louie’s of 5 months ago was 5 star for food and service. This is a review as of September ‘25. We moved to PA about a year ago and this place quickly became our weekly spot. We came to know almost all the servers, we ordered nearly every item on the menu over the course of the first few months, and loved taking family and friends from out of town there; it was always a hit.
I don’t know what happened over the past 4 months, but everything has changed here. The food has gone downhill, and the service is not good, even for the standards of the area. There is not one familiar face in the server staff, the food is now hit or miss, there is always something wrong now when we’re there. The last time we went, per usual I was presented with a cheque when we were wrapping up, all looked good, then they came over with the mobile pos checkout for me to pay for the meal. The server stood there and stared at me when filling out the tip info. I could tell she was new, so I didn’t say anything but this is an awful practice for a server. Then after arriving home, I started to question how the dollar amt for tip % made sense. Came to realize that the tab I paid on the mobile POS device was not the cheque I was presented with minutes prior. It was a higher total. After making and receiving 4 calls from Louies that day and the next, after finally making a follow up call when I never heard back from the mgr, turns out I was presented with the wrong bill on the POS. They said they would credit back the order total difference and I was never give the option to change the tip dollar amt to correlate with the correct order total. This was the nail in the coffin for us @ Louies.
Over the past 4 months, the same menu items are hit or miss, to a very large degree, and according to the server staff, this depends on who is in the kitchen that day. On our last visit, we were informed the cook who made the food perfectly had left the restaurant the prior week.
We will likely still return here and there purely since we live so close and it’s an easy quick meal, but please understand this is not the place it was just a...
Read moreI found this establishment because my husband wanted to find a new place to watch NFL Sunday Ticket. Everything about Louies is out of this world. From taking a nostalgic walk from the car to the charming, village-like entrance, we were greeted like we were royalty. Andrew escorted us into a well-lit, tavern-inspired, community filled sports haven, and seated us with the perfect view of literal Flying Hills from my perspective, and The New York Jets from my husbands. As first-timers, our server, Alvin, approached our table with water and warmly invited us to peruse the beer menu. They had a nice selection on draft, and I went with a Chocolate Milk Stout, the perfect accompaniment to The Caramel Burger. We found out later that it won a major award! My husband got a Hot Bloody Mary that paired well with The Barnyard Burger; perfect for Brunch. The link that tied our food/drink selection together was the " bacons". Never in my 52 years of existence did I think we would ever become bacon aficionados, but my husband strongly felt it was worth mentioning. Since his drink and both of our burger came with bacon, its important to note that each piece was cooked, appropriately seasoned and served at the perfect consistency, much like a chef would prepare at a made-to-order steak at a high end resturant. And might I add that the music selection was off the charts! Alvin was very attentive, always checking in, but we were so well taken of that it was scarcely needed. We so enjoyed the atmosphere, conversation, and food selections, that we ordered desert and another round of drinks because we absolutely fell in love...
