El Charro's — Restaurant in Cyril

How this place has 4 plus stars is beyond me. Our first & last visit. The cheese water was absolutely disgusting. Its like 1 bag of mix to 50 gallons of water. It literally would not stay on a chip. A straw would have been better. The cheese enchiladas told me all i need to know aside from the water cheese. Enchiladas came out wrong, wanted chili sauce on it, asked the waitress if it was the sane kinda cheese water that goes on top & she grimaced saying yes so no cheese sause, it looked like they put cheese on top & used a torch to melt the cheese as it had hard bubbles on top you could tap with a fork & make tapping sounds with & the ends of them were so crunchy it was like earing a chip. The taco meat was the absolute worse. No flavor other than greasy water & way too much salt taste, like they forgot to season it. The tea didnt even taste right. The best thing there was the chips & salsa that barely stayed on the chips. Again its baffling how many ppl like this place, they need to get out & try other places then come back & change their rating. Sorry but not sorry cause of the drive there to be very disappointed. Have eaten here several times in the past 6 months. Food and service used to be good. The time before last food was just meh, service was HORRIBLE. Thought it was just a bad night. Tonight food was beyond disgusting. All of it was overcooked, rice was the color of dirty dishwater, and the guacamole looked a week old. We ate less than 1/4 of our dinner. When the waitress asked how the food was when we were paying, I said "honestly it was horrible." She didn't offer a discount or get the owner/supervisor or anything. Just took our money and looked at us crazy. ...

We pass by this place all the time and finally decided to give it a shot despite the mixed reviews. My husband ordered the tostada enchilada plate and I got the Carne asada. Generous portions left us full and happy. The meat was seasoned well and the waitress was attentive despite being busy. Overall the food was great with the exception of the cheese dip given with the chips. The consistency of the queso was a bit runny and bland. Other than that, we were very happy and we're glad to have a decent Mexican restaurant so close to home. We'll definitely be back!...
