Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in D'Iberville

Staff was friendly, shop was clean, salad was good, but the steak sandwich left a lot to be desired. They need to refigure the meat to bread ratio not to mention the amount of meat that was on my sandwich was overpowered by the horseradish sauce. the size of what they call a whole world only equal the size of a half at Subway, definitely not worth $12.00.

Now the half and whole salads were definitely worth the prices, nice hearty salads, my daughter had the casear was well prepared and my simple salad had plenty of greens, carrot slices, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and shredded cheese with good sized crutons. My other daughter had the pasta salad and she said that was good as well.

This was me first time going there, and I'm debating if I'll go again, cause if I do, it would be for the salads and the staff. Very disappointed with the sandwiches.

Update: My girlfriend and I, both had the grilled steak sandwich, 3 hours after dinner, both ended up getting sick, so after these new events, we will not...

My husband and I stopped here for a bite to eat while we were running errands. This is our second time at this location. There’s not many good food options in this area in general so we settled for Newk’s with optimism. He ordered a sandwich and I ordered the portobello veggie pizza since I am vegetarian. As I was eating my pizza I felt something hard in my bite, I pulled a piece of plastic out of my mouth. My husband took the piece of plastic to the cashier and showed the manager. They said they have plastic pans and it chipped off. That response makes it seem like this happens all the time. I guess the plastic didn’t fully melt while it was in the oven?! So wild. Be careful if you decide to eat here. Thankfully we are out of this area in a few weeks. I've been to Newk's before (in New Braunfels, TX), so I had the same high expectations here, but this was a let down. I waited for at least five minutes while first in line just to take my order because there were two associates huddled over the register, seemingly placing one's order, but completely ignoring the line of customers forming to place orders. After that, though service was quick, the turkey avocado half sandwich was more bread than substance and the avocado was overripe and brown mush. In fairness the half Caesar salad was quite good. Finally, I order a drink (they, of course, defaulted to a large without asking) only to find out there were no caffeine-fee AND sugar-free options available. At 8 PM, it should not be unusual for people to prefer these options, so if you find yourself here, just order the bottled water at the counter or ask for water glass (if they do that) because you aren't going to...
