I don't often write a review, but today's experience should serve as a firm warning to anyone who wants to visit this buffet.
The staff was the only part of this visit that I can say was good. The wonton soup was nearly boiling, to the point of scalding hot. I can only assume this was in hopes that once you drank the broth you wouldn't be able to tell that the pork used in the wontons themselves had been freezer burnt. A terrible first taste for a meal. Unfortunately, the same issue occurred when I tasted the General Tso's Chicken.... and absolutely terrible thing to have twice.
But the cherry on top was the fly on bottom. The pot stickers, while a little old and cool from being out, were acceptable. But once dipped into the red pepper dumpling sauce the first bite was drawn out with a fly that had died in the sauce. Maybe had I not stirred up the sauce before getting my scoop I would not have known. But I did, and so I was given the extra protein for my fried dumpling.
The hostess was apologetic, but the person she brought it to the attention of, I assume an owner or manager who did not speak in English but clearly understood what she was told, seemed annoyed that she was being told this and appeared to brush off the concern from her staff who eventually took the sauce container to the kitchen.
Truthfully, I ate little more after this and chose to leave with a few bites of desert, which I had assumed being brought in from elsewhere couldn't be ruined. The palmiers were stale, very obviously from the previous day having sat out all evening and then put back on the buffet the following day.
The economy has been rough for everyone, but it appears that Panda Palace has been hit exceptionally hard, raising prices to $14.00 for lunch with no drink, while cutting corners and using old meat to fill their buffet. Perhaps the struggle hasn't been from a bad economy, but on poor kitchen management, and lowered standards for what they are serving.
I have to suggest that you look anywhere else in the Promenade for your meal if you're reading this. I know I won't return until I see a sign that claims they are under new...
Read moreThis was our second time dining in within a month and it was a completely different experience. The food was good considering what I actually had a chance to eat but the service was rather unusual. While we were sitting down to eat the first plate of food. The server brought our check to the table. Please note it was two of us and had not gotten up to get another plate yet. We looked at each other and said maybe she hasn’t been properly trained on when to bring the check. I waited for 20 minutes to see who else in the area that was sat at the same time to see if she would give theirs checks as well.. nope she didn’t. We did decide to get up and fix one more and agreed we won’t be back because at that time we were not offered a refill. Sad to say, my coworker and his girlfriend said the same exact thing happened to them about a week later. Not to mention we all are in the service industry so we’re aware of timing. Needless to say I won’t go back. I passed up at lease 3 other options to get...
Read moreI ordered take out so assume atmosphere is good. Had good service from the counter. I ordered the Seafood Delight $16.00 because it had my favorite thing in it. Scallops. The menu says. Sautéed shrimp, crab meat, scallops with mixed vegetables. I only got shrimp and crab. I was not told no Scallops. Very sad not getting what you pay for on the menu. Also, I think most agree the celery should not be part of your mixed vegetables. I bet 90% do not eat it so please put another cheap vegetable people will it. When I looked up Chinese mixed vegetables, celery is not listed as one. Spouse had the Coconut shrimp, it was delicious but could not taste Coconut. The food was very good. Fried rice container is paper and has a metal handle that must be expensive. Has to be removed to heat up later...
