My son and I ate dinner here last night. Let me start off by saying the food and service were both great. The restaurant is very nice, and has a good atmosphere, and the margaritas are strong and tasty.
The serving sizes and the prices are another story.
I ordered:
Large Top shelf Marg (23.25) Large cheese dip (8.99) Steak Chimichanga plate (15.99) Steak Quesadilla w/ rice (13.99) Sweet tea (3.25)
My total was $65.47 + tax = $70.05 + tip = $83.00. $83.00 for myself and my 11 year old son, and we left hungry.
If I had ordered the same exact items from El Saltillo, the total would've been $40.48 plus tax and tip. If I had ordered the same exact items from El Patron, the total would've been $38.63 + tax and tip. If I had ordered the same exact items from Pepe's Bosque it would have been $42.00 + tax and tip.
I'm struggling to see where this extra ~$25+ comes into play, especially considering the portion sizes.
Their menu lists steak quesadillas a la cart for $6.99, Rice for $3.49, yet I was charged $13.99 for the 2 together on a plate for my son. The quesadilla was half the size of other local restaurants (and of the menu picture), and the Chimichanga I got was LITERALLY the smallest chimichanga I've ever gotten at any Mexican restaurant I've ever dined at.
Before I left I spoke with the manager, was very polite, told him our server was great, food was great, but for what we paid we should not be leaving hungry. He seemed very apathetic, and just said he'd mention it to the owners. I understand he doesn't set the price and likely not the portion sizes, but damn dude act like you care.
This is the first Google review I've ever left for a restaurant, and I promise I'm not a Karen... Just kinda blown away by what I paid and what I got...

Read moreFirst off get rid of the drink buzzer behind the bar, it kills your atmosphere and annoys the customers. Probably some of the best Mexican food the coast has to offer, I’m an huge fan of their food and great atmosphere. Downside, the past 4 times I’ve been in the past 6 months the service is good awful. The girl tonight(wore all black Nike air maxs) was terrible, like the worst waitress. We waited 10 minutes for her to come over and great us, that being said, she only had 2 tables, and one of those included us. She got out drink order, got the liquor drinks out first, then had to wait for the remaining 6 drinks to be brought out, so while I’m sucking down a corona, my kids screaming because her sprite hasn’t gotten there yet. The after our drinks finally get there, she disappeared and don’t show for another 20 minutes to get out order, I thought the only way to make true profit in a a restaurant was to burn and churn tables and get them in and out…. Which is one thing, but this was just her not caring. Finally after 5 people get there entrees, they are still Missing one steak fajitas, took them 15 minutes for it to get back out. Took us 30 minutes to get out tabs, even thought she collected out plates. By that time she has 4 tables, including us. So their service needs to step it up, this wasn’t a one time thing,...
