we're not local to the area but oh how I wish we were because this place would be a daily stop! we were driving through the area and needed a pick me up, a quick search delivered Bear Necessities Cafe for a quick coffee and I was SO pleasantly surprised! I consider myself a bit of a coffee/coffee shop snob and this place is now a favorite. Super clean, so adorably decorated and the staff is just a delight. I saw they had latte flights and thought well DUH that's happening! We selected for our flight: The Bear, Mrs. Claus, Grama's Cookie and Overnight Hiker, all iced. they were all served in the cutest mini mason jars, all labeled on a wood board for us to sample and enjoy. My personal favorite was the Mrs Claus (which is a seasonal special) followed by the bear, gramas cookie and the overnight hiker. We enjoyed the flight and then each got a full sized latte to go. While we were sitting we struck up a conversation with one of the baristas who were on break and she was such a sweetheart. she gave us lots of recommendations on other spots to visit in the area (along with other coffee shops within driving distance once she learned how much I enjoy them!) and some history on the cafe and the Dahlonega are as a whole. We had such a pleasant time with her and at this location that I've sent the information and location to almost everyone i know. Hopefully they're around for a long time as we visit the mountains about 2-3 times a year I cant wait to go back and try...

I can tell a lot of thought went into the aesthetics of the place, and there are many charming touches to create a warm and beautiful environment. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating, and they were thorough and friendly while explaining menu options available. I was grateful they were able to honor an off-menu request of scrambled eggs. I feel there are some kinks to iron out in terms of timely service. While their card reader was out of service, I think that was an inconsequential contributing factor to some of the delays we experienced. I also overheard the staff apologizing to almost every other customer encountered for orders and service taking so long, so it sounded like we were not the only ones. Note that the chai latte was served very quickly, and that was an exception. Some of the delays or slow service observed included: waited about 10-15 minutes to reach the counter to order (3 parties of two in front of us in line), a jasmine tea took 10-15 minutes to make, scrambled eggs and breakfast sandwich took an additional 10-12 minutes to make and be delivered to our table after the jasmine tea. When the scrambled eggs arrived, they were cold. We would recommend the breakfast sandwich/bacon, as that was very good. The food (eggs, fruit) and beverages (jasmine tea, chai latte) were otherwise good, but not great. If they can work out the various service kinks, I would...

It was our first time here, we had high expectations due to the positive reviews and pictures displayed in their Google profile. Here’s our experience and feedback: Food: We ordered pastries for the kids and the girl who was taking the order asked if we wanted them warmed up, so we said yes. We then noticed they were being heated in a microwave. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich, the frittata and a couple regular breakfast dishes. The food took 20-30 minutes to arrive. It was room temperature as if it was sitting out served for some time instead of it being served right away after being cooked. The dishes were not served all at once, they came out within a few minutes apart (5-7min) so we all ate separately. The eggs didn’t have salt, they were undercooked and the frittata was overcooked. The breakfast sandwich was good and the cappuccinos were good as well. Service: They take the order fast and accurately, however, the food took too long and came to the table separated for each one of us so we couldn’t eat together. When they served the food it was clear they were in a rush or understaffed as the dishes were either overcooked and some undercooked and without salt. They are a good pastry and coffee shop, I would not go back to have...

During our last day in Dahlonega, we stumbled upon Bear Necessities Cafe, a quaint local coffee shop that turned out to be a delightful find. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a morning coffee and breakfast. We started with a couple of Americanos, which were decent and set the tone for a pleasant experience. My wife opted for the breakfast sandwich, while I went with the highly recommended August. Both dishes were delightful, and we would encourage anyone to try either one. To top off our visit, we couldn't resist trying one of their famous scones. It was amazing—soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Paired with the Americano, it was the perfect end to our meal. Bear Necessities Cafe is definitely a must-visit if you're in Dahlonega. Whether you're looking for a good cup of coffee, a light breakfast, or a delicious scone, this charming cafe has something for everyone.

Normally I'd start with the delicious roast beef sandwich or the tuna salad my wife had with a huge portion of mozzarella but I won't. I won't even start with how cute the surroundings are or that our server was delightful. No, let me begin with the brownie. Now, I know brownies. I've had brownies all over where we've lived and my wife makes a mean brownie herself. This was on the far side of decadent. Smooth chocolate with little chocolate chunks. To die for. I'm sure the rest of the menu is equally impressive. Stop by and help this home grown company thrive. Side note. The owner came out while we were sitting on the porch. She certainly deserves your support. She took the time to connect in a very meaningful way and we are grateful for those moments. All the best, Dan

What a great find outside of the downtown Dahlonega Square. The food was amazing and different. My wife and I had the THE AUGUST- Avocado toast topped with Crushed Red Pepper, a tomato-garlic confit, burrata cheese, drizzled with a balsamic glaze. We also had side salads with Strawberry Vinaigrette. My wife is not a fan of garlic and she loved it. So refreshing and lots of Great Coffees and Lattes to chose from. Don't get me started on the pastry section. 5 Starts all around a must stop on your way into town for breakfast or lunch or on your way out. Thank You D and D
