Not all sequels do their predecessors justice. Super Troopers II lacked the magic of the first one. Men In Black II, according to one very intelligent man I once met, was nothing more than a joyless cash grab. La Espanola II, while I haven't dined at the first, left me feeling full, yet empty inside. "A paradox" seems an apt description for this establishment.
Typically nachos are considered a safe staple food of any white middle aged man who lacks the knowledge of the Spanish language to decipher what exactly is described in a menu devoid of any English. But even the ubiquitous, universal description of a plate of tortilla chips with melted cheese, meat, and jalapenos escaped this Anglo-Irish male.
In spite of the short state of confusion in which I found myself I was assured that I had ordered nachos by my fluent-in-Spanglish server. Within a few short minutes I found myself diving into, and relishing every bite of, Tex-Mex heaven. Ooey-gooey cheese topped every chip perfectly as though it had been drizzled by a bonita Mexican goddess! Grilled carnitas graced every chip while jalapenos complimented perfectly every salivatory bite.
Yes, they were good nachos. Yes, they were filling and satiated my appetite after a half of a day's work. However, they just lacked that special something that would have pushed this review to 5...
Read moreIf you like TexMex....meh! Driving home to Colorado and stopped because their lot was full of cars so I thought it must be good. Really disappointed. The chips wet with grease, and salsa really cold and not a bit of spice. I was told my entree was crisp because it was deep-fried; maybe that was yesterday because there was nothing crisp about it today! The entree was expensive and they added $4 to put a spoonful of some totally tasteless chili gravy over it. Ugh, won't be back. They were having a big argument with some other customers over their high ticket, and these customers were not happy, but paid it anyway, just like I did. Sigh........I walked out feeling robbed, unsatisfied, only stomached part of my food, and very sorry I stopped. A full parking lot must not be a good indicator...
Read moreInteresting place, good service and clean bathroom's. Kiddo and I ordered the same thing, 1/2 combo which is one enchilada a taco, beans and rice. We decide on chicken enchilada and a beef taco, beans and rice. When our order arrived we were a bit confused. The taco was a soft fried corn tortilla, which means the corn tortilla wasn't hard but soft fried. The chicken enchilada was a breaded chicken strip cut up and rolled in a corn tortilla and smothered in red sauce. Probably won't be back for Mexican food, might try the hamburger though. My great grandad order a hamburger and it was huge with lots of fries. He only ate about 3/4 of it because it was so big. Fries were plentiful and seasoned good! Wait staff was on point but food was...
