Arrived shortly after open on Father's Day with my husband and our 6-year-old granddaughter. This was her 1st time bowling, and she was sooo excited to learn. The parking lot was huge, with plenty of parking and many handicap spaces available at font doors. Upon entrance, there was a dirty floor/threshold and automatic sliding doors with a dirty glass surround. Once we walked in, it was clean, with a ramp for handicap which led to the main shoe counter for greeting. We were greeted at the counter by a very friendly gentleman who went over the specifics on pricing and specials for Father's Day. We opted for the newer side with sofas and tables to make her more comfortable. We gave our specific shoe sizes, and he picked out specific sizes based on how shoes ran in size. I believe they ran 1/2 size larger than our actual sizes. The facility was very clean. Bowling balls, shoes, and sofa areas are all clean and well maintained. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who asked us if we wanted to order food or drink. We declined because we had just eaten prior to arrival. The sofa areas themselves were private with heavy theater like draperies for privacy of every 2 lanes. The lanes were darker with colorful lighting for a more dramatic effect. Big screen TV overhead displayed different channels based on sporting events that Sunday. At one point, I had gone to the bar and asked for water to take my medication. The bar keep was very pleasant, and we discussed what was happening in a room adjacent to us, which was full of people and people playing guitar. He stated to my surprise that they had church service open to the public every Sunday. I had never in my life heard of church svc. At a bowling alley. I thought it was a wonderful idea to give back to people locally who wished to attend service. Kudos to Stars and Strikes for offering it. The other side of the bowling alley was wall to wall games. Retro games, video games, interactive physical games with ride. We didn't have a card loaded to play and needed to leave, but we will definitely check it out upon our next visit. My favorite game was the lifesize Hungry hippo game to sit upon and play. My granddaughter had a blast, and we did as well. She bowled an 87 with the help of automated bumbers, which appeared on her turn. The only thing I had an issue with the entire time was their entrance. The glass surround and glass doors were filthy as well as the flooring upon entrance and exit. It doesn't look too inviting and definitely needs a scrubbing down. Other than that, it was a great time with our granddaughter and would definitely...
Read moreUpdate 1/11/2022 8:40pm: Upgraded by 2 stars. The manager actually adjusted a couple things this time after multiple requests for a manager. I am not at all a Karen so this is pretty significant for me to write. She was very nice and so was the waitress.
Edit: 1/11/2022. Trash experience again with multiple chances given inbetween. Not crowded. Game messed up on 2nd game on a paid unlimited lane and erased all our data. Moved lanes. Started over. Steak quesadillas we paid extra for only had cheese. Showed the waitress and steak extra charge only as requested was removed. Lane moved to messed up again. Asked for a manager and was only showed the lane restart button on the actual lane and not offered anything else. Still sitting here now again after requesting someone to the lane and night ruined again.
All I can say is WOW! What happened to this place? This used to be my favorite place to bowl and have food and drinks and I know I won't be back again. I've been coming here for years. The service was so TERRIBLE tonight it ruined the whole night but we are staying because we paid for it already. The only good service we had was at the bowling register. After that we were never approached by a waitress so had to order at the bar which is fine even though they weren't busy. I tried to use a gift card that I had just bought and used at the bowling register and had two dollars and some change on it (I had the receipt) and she told me it would only credit .15 and that it wasn't a mistake she made that she knew what she was doing. I continued to pay the remaining balance and they offer military discounts so I presented my I.d. And she said thank you for your service. I got back to my table/lane and no discount had been taken off. Also our lane wasn't working correctly. I went to get both fixed and again was presented with an attitude. My burger did not come the way I ordered it (it's fine I'm not too picky but..) after being here for an hour so far we have yet to be approached by a waitress. They are not busy AT ALL. I am a very good tipper and very understandable as I used to be a waitress for 3 plus years but this did it for me.
Update: been here over two hours and still no service. A new group came in beside us and a waitress came immediately and cleaned off the area and wanted to know if the trash that was there before we got...
Read moreHow times have changed!.. it wasn't long ago when I could get two children and two adults in the gates of a theme park for the amount of money I spent at this establishment for 4 adults to bowl for ONE hour/two games. It is not worth the money spent. The bowling facility itself seems to be aging quickly and ill kept. The bathrooms closest to the lanes were out of order. The bowling lane we were on needed reset numerous times and early on a Saturday evening, with only a moderate crowd, they were already out of size 12 shoes and I compromised with an 11 1/2 all night. Like our "waitress", that we seen maybe twice, most of the staff was seemingly too preoccupied with their duties to assist us in the littlest of things like shoe rental and resetting the lanes...their duties?... Or changing the channels on the obnoxiously large screens. Which brings up another point..The added modern feature of large tv monitors in a bowling alley is kinda cool for maybe viewing music videos (you certainly wouldn't be able to hear them) or a sporting event where sound wouldn't necessarily matter BUT NOT on a half hour long infomercial! We had the displeasure of paying too much for a hot cardboard/frozen type pizza. Then after all the bowling "fun" we made our way through the typical loud, flashy overpriced modern arcade in a futile attempt of spending multiple bucks and winning anything resembling worth even one buck.
Like many, modernized things of the past, like the bowling alley, this too is not your arcade of old. No more simple and fun games like skeeball, pinball or hoops instead everything is video, and/or electronic and/or ticket earning. Stars and strikes had their fifteen minutes of fame in Paulding county. They've enjoyed an overpriced, over-hyped good run. They drove the family owned and operated local bowling alley out of business in the process. The two business entrepreneurs proudly photographed on the establishments menus have took advantage of what was once an area with limited family fun choices and apparently don't seem to care about providing value for the family dollar spent at their business and instead continue to over-hype and over-charge for a more and more under-whelming product to maximize profit with the least amount of further investment.
Yes, our evening spent at stars and strikes was a great...
