CATERING:
I hired UP in SMOKE BBQ to cater wings and ribs for my party and I planned to make a few appetizers myself. The guest count was 50 people. Up in Smoke planned 25 servings of ribs and 25 servings of wings, plus veggies and sauces. I opted to provide my own chafing dishes so they didn't need to return after the party, which lowered the price a bit. They were prompt in delivering the food to my door one hour before guest arrival. It was all done perfectly and was delicious, and much more food than I expected! After the event, I bagged food for guests to take home with them and filled my freezer with the rest.
Because it was a bit pricey and there was enough food to feed double the amount of people I had invited, next time I will give a rib/wing count instead of the planned serving count. I will also prepare the carrots myself as I prefer fresh whole, instead of ready-bagged carrots and I'll request less of the ranch and blue cheese dressing. That, too, I bottled to save and give away to guests. As expected, these awesome cooks provided great food; they did a wonderful job! Be prepared...
Read moreThe food may have been good had we ever gotten service. The man at the bar was absolutely the rudest person Iâve ever encountered in the restaurant business. First he handed us menus & did not tell us we had to order at the bar. This seems to be a norm in this island. Then we went to order & he chose to wait on someone who cut in front of us. Not surprised as she was ordering alcohol & thatâs where the money is. Then we were next & he asked if he could cash out someone behind us! We put down the menus to leave & he started mouthing off saying fine just leave itâs not like Iâll ever see you again!! And he is correct, after taking a ferry over youâd think he would appreciate the business! On our ferry ride back we talked to a couple who had a carry out from this restaurant & they said he was rude to them too! I have no intention to go back to this island & certainly would not come...
Read moreOnce on Daufuskie easy to find using GPS/Google maps. Lots of parking for golf carts. Only a few tables inside so make a reservation if you want to eat inside. Patio seating available or take-out. We went for lunch in the off season. Likely much busier during the tourist season. Brisket on a bun was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, falls apart when biting through. The original classic sauce was to my taste. Not overly hot or spicy. Pork on a bun was also the same. Perfectly cooked excellent with added BBQ sauce. Buns were ok but did tend to fall apart towards the last bites. Mac & cheese was super cheesy. Noodles cooked well. The potato salad was very creamy but not a lot of zip to it. The servers were friendly. The bar has a lot of choices of cocktails and hard liquor. Outside seating was...
