Wow! This restaurant is amazing! I ordered shrimp with vegetables in a mild white sauce. The generous portion of large shrimp was cooked to perfection. The blend of vegetables consisted of a wonderful balance of carrots, broccoli, bok choy, mushrooms, bamboo shoots and little corn on the cob and all of the vegetables were also cooked to perfection. The white rice tasted exactly like white rice is supposed to taste - thoroughly cooked but not sticky. The spring rolls were the most delicious I've ever had, made from scratch after I ordered them. The fortune cookie to round out the meal was the best fortune cookie I have ever received with a meal. All of the food tasted like it was extremely fresh. I utilized the restroom while I was waiting for my take-out meal and it was very clean. The restaurant was extremely clean as well as visually appealing. Additionally, Connie Chung, the owner, has a daughter named Catherine who is an accomplished artist. Catherine, who is only 15 yeas old, has been painting and drawing since she was a small child and she has won many awards. Her work is on display at Springhill Memorial Hospital. She has won many art competitions and her artwork is included in various art competition calendars as well as magazines. Her artwork enhances the environment of this clean and attractive restaurant. This restaurant always receives extremely high ratings from the Health Department. There are a huge number of choices on the menu. The owner and employees consist of a crew of dedicated and professional individuals. Obviously, I highly recommend this lovely restaurant located on the way to and from Dauphin Island. Please treat yourself to this...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Oriental Palace with my grandma ever since I was a young kid, and I can say hands down, without a doubt, that this restaurant is the absolute best and serves the most authentic and delicious Chinese food in the area! Hung and Connie are the loveliest people you could ever meet and dine with, and they consistently deliver the most excellent food and top-tier service with every visit. From my favorite dishes of their incredible lo mein, amazingly prepared vegetables, and wonderfully cooked seafood, each meal is crafted with love, skill, and authenticity. What makes Oriental Palace so special is that it has never lost its charm, quality, or heart over the years. It's remained a constant source of joy and comfort in the community. It’s rare to find a place that continues to uphold such high standards of cooking and genuine hospitality with such consistency, and that’s exactly what makes every return visit feel just as delightful as the first. The food continues to be absolutely outstanding, with flavors that are rich, balanced, and always deeply satisfying. Every bite reminds me of why I fell in love with the this restaurant in the first place. I feel incredibly lucky to still be enjoying this gem of a restaurant after all these years! Thank you,...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying I have eaten at almost every Asian restaurant in the Theodore and Mobile area, so I've been around.
This place has the potential to be good, but it isn't it falls short. I ordered the General's Chicken and it came with Fried Rice and a Vegetable Roll. What I got was.... bad. I watched them microwave the food from my seat, so I already knew what was coming. The chicken has a strange after taste and tasted nothing like what you might expect it to taste like, and the Vegetable Roll was uneatable. Worst of all though was the Fried Rice. It was mushy, not at all fried and made to order and tasted like prepackaged rice.
If this place wants to become a great eating place it needs to wake up. COOK my food, don't reheat it. NOTHING is worse than Fried Rice that is just microwaved. Conversely, I LOVE fresh made rice and won't mind the wait.
Until they start actively making their food to order WHEN it is ordered I will not reccomend this...
