My mother and I were out and about enjoying the sights along Route 66. It was a beautiful day, and we were hungry. Didn't feel like driving home and preparing our evening meal. When we arrived in Davenport, Oklahoma, and we saw Tammy's Cafe, we just had to check it out.

The time of day was between lunch and dinner. Around 2:30 to 3p.m. I parked in the Handicap parking right in front of the entrance. Mom said that she really liked the old antiques on the porch, and she remembered some of them from her earlier years. She is 86 years old and we talk and visit about family and friends from years ago as well as she tells me about her life as a young girl, plus how she and my dad. He has a sweet heart of 55-plus years. When they 1st met, she didn't want anything to do with him. He came from a poor wheat farm in South Eastern Colorado. She grew up in the city. Her dad recognized something in my dad. He pulled Howard Musgrave aside and educated him about good personal hygiene, and his appearance changed overnight. He finally won her heart, and they married in 1955 at the age of 18.

Tammy's has a lot to great antique road signs, gas station signs, and other stuff from the good old days of simple life.

The entrance is extremely wheelchair accessible and friendly. The asphalt is the handicap parking was a bit rough for my mom's walker. But she was able to push a little harder, and I was there to help her. If for any reason she ever trips or loses her balance. I am not able to catch her. But I grabbed her arm and helped stabilize her on rough surfaces.

Once inside the decor in amazing and the staff extremely friendly. We were the only ones who were there and had our choice of where to sit. The booth was just right. Right above our table, they have an American flag. It's created out of mayson jars. The inside of each jar has been painted. Then, the jars were stacked and hot glued together. The bottom of each jar was eight red, white, or blue.

The server was prompt and quickly brought our beverages. And kept our glasses full.

I drink unsweetened ice tea and always squeeze a little lemon juice in it. My mother likes Dr. Pepper unless she can get a cherry coke. She loves chicken fried steak, but not everyone is able or willing to prepare it for her without pepper. My mom is allergic to pepper. It causes her lips and her tongue to swell and makes it difficult to breathe.

So, she ordered the hamburger steak without the regular seasoning on it. She enjoyed her meal, which included 2 sides. Fried Okra and Cottage cheese. I have not eaten anything with breading on it in several years. I really miss fried catfish so I decided to enjoy it. I ordered cottage cheese and fried Okra. Since I was going to have fried catfish and it had a very good, thin crispy corn meal cutting. 1 of the best fried catfish I have had. I really enjoyed it and since it was all you can eat. I ordered 2 more helpings of it. It was served fresh and hot! Very delicious!

I have to tell you that since I grew my own Okra a few years ago. I love Okra raw picked and eaten in the garden. I suggested that the server try it. She said she never had, but might consider it. As the lists of menu items I didn't try. I am sure everything here is really delicious. By the time we were ready to head out. This place was filling up quickly. I would recommend Tammy's...

First of all…. The rolls are absolutely amazing 🤤❤️ I have been dreaming about those rolls for almost a year now. It’s been awhile since we have been and the vibe seems different, better! Our waitress was really nice! Much nicer then last time I was here! Back to the rolls, they are perfect, soft, slightly sweet, yeast rolls. We each got two rolls, regular butter and cinnamon butter. That cinnamon butter is AMAZING! Better than Texas Roadhouse. Hands down, worth the drive just for that. I was super happy with my choice tonight!! I got the pulled pork sandwich, Mac-n-cheese & the salad bar! Everything was great!!! The pulled pork was great quality and flavor! No fatty gross pieces! The bbq sauce was really good. I got a little extra cheese at the salad bar to sprinkle on my sandwich. The mac-n-cheese was gooey & really good! Not at all dry. I was impressed with the salad bar. It had everything I wanted and more. I got ham, cheese, ranch, olives, pickled okra, tabouli. I was not impressed with the tabouli but that is absolutely ok, I knew I probably wouldn’t like it but wanted to give it a shot. I like tabouli that is tangy and tart and lemony. This was more mellow and dry. Not much of a parsley taste, it was more cucumber forward. Which was a first for me! But everyone makes their tabouli different and everyone has an acquired taste! Even though we came later in the evening, everything was clean and fresh! ….now the reason for the 4stars…. We came because it was my husbands bday and he has been wanting a good steak. We saw that it said aged & he was so excited to try it. He was not impressed at all. In fact, he said several times how disappointed he was. Especially being his bday dinner. It was over cooked ( he asked for medium rare and it was just almost well. Probably medium well). It was not as tender as he was expecting and did not think that it was in fact, aged. He said maybe he is just spoiled because he can make a better steak at home. So come here for the rolls, the chicken, I tried his fries and they were good, they have phenomenal desserts, the bbq…. But maybe don’t get the steak! Even the sweet tea was good!!!! We will definitely be back. But we should have let the waitress know tonight what happened because we hope she knows, she did a good...

I'm just going to come out and say it - take a road trip and go to Tammy's! Whether it's lunch or dinner I know you will not be disappointed.

Step back in time if you will for just a moment, the decorations that adorn the inside as well as the exterior. They were nostalgic and just what you would expect them to be!

We were a little early for the lunch hour since we arrived at 10:45. However, we were hungry so we started out with the Fried Green Beans! What a great starter!! The Green Beans were hot, crispy, & tasty.

There were lots of good choices so I'm definitely coming back to try other options. Thankfully the team I was traveling chose differently.

I chose the Chicken Fried Chicken with 2 sides which were Baked Beans & Cucumber & Onion salad. Not exactly what I was expecting but overall an excellent option. The chicken breast was moist and had a nice crispy coating. The downside was that it was a thick breast which in my opinion wished it was flattened they battered & fried. At the end of the meal it didn't matter my plate was cleared.

The team had different ideas, one chose the Meat Loaf, mashed potatoes & fried Okra! Since they were two large slices of Meat Loaf I snagged a piece to try. Very good.

The other two chose the Fried Catfish, another excellent option. No complaints from them!

A very pleasant surprise and I'll make a special trip to dine her again. One last thing before we left, each of us got a huge Cinnamon Roll for much later in the day . . . or maybe for breakfast!

Before departing my friends told me to check out the restroom. Now normally I would never contemplate taking such a picture but this one I couldn't help myself. I went to wash my hands and I did have to admit that is the first men's room that felt homey! I know kinda weird but I had to toss that in there. I wish I would have taken a better pic but you get the idea.

Lastly, I've give to give a shout out to Abby who waited on our table thank you! You were pleasant and took...
