This place many years ago used to have some of the best pizza in all of Wisconsin. But sadly these days have long past and is now sadly some of the worst that i have had.
The service is slow, not attendative and seems to be short on staff. On a semi busy Sunday night only one waitress working all the tables with the bar person helping serve untinsals and drinks.
The pizza itself has an over powering taste that seems to have a flavor that is almost spoiled like. The sauce is over done as well and makes your taste buds go on overdrive in a bad way. Only ate 3 small slices and ask to box it up as i could not take the taste anymore as well as the over powerness of the tatse.
The two other people i was with had burgers and also said that it was sub par sadly. Also had a side of fries that was decent enough but was nothing out of the ordinary.
The Great River Roadhouse is also very expensive (especially considering the area of the country it is in). For a small pizza, two burgers with side of fries came to be almoat $70. And is by no means high quality.
The Great River Roadhouse used to be the best around in its heyday But the roadhouses heyday is sadly long gone. The atmosphere is right with its Northwoods decor, buck heads and Wisconsin decor but the service and food sadly makes this a skip and...
Read moreAvoid this establishment. NOT a family restaurant. We drove an hour 1 way for this place. Server did not pay us adequate or prompt service. Went to change my son in the restroom and there was no changing table so it had to be in the SINK! I ordered the Roadhouse Super with black olives only on half. Menu stated NO WHERE that it came with green olives. Server took 10 bucks off for the mistake, waited forever for my change while she served everyone else water & never did bring me my change so she gave herself a 10 dollar tip. I lost my appetite the second I sat down and our obesity challenged server bent over with skin tight jeans stuck so far up her colon and I just had to sit there while it happened to my family. Our drinks were never refilled, thank goodness, although I was very thirsty the water most certainly came directly out of the Mississippi.
Try somewhere new folks this place has made more money than they know what to do with and they just don't give a rats anymore. I mean really who charges $25 for a t-shirt with the establishments name on it! Give it away if you want your name out there! It's free advertising everytime they wear the shirt. Even if the green olives were not on the pizza it really wasn't worth $30. I've had soo much better. There's a place in Galveston Texas that truly...
Read moreBest darn pizza on the West Coast of Wisconsin.
You need to know that GRR takes a very generous view of pizza size: their SMALL outdelivers others' MEDIUM, a GRR MEDIUM feeds a family of 4, etc..
Yet every visit we see 4 people order two Med.s and take one home untouched. I mean, accidentally; some knowing locals do this intentiinally, to sustain themselves until their next visit.
Ingredients are FRESH like they arrive straight from the garden and meatlocker.
Tall order, but "new" owners Fawn and Josh have built a team that provide a warm Wisco welcome -- and a consistently great dining and drinking experience.
My family. friends and I have had pert near everything on the menu yet have only been disappointed once in 20-plus visits. (That was initial days of the new team's pizza efforts; they quickly corrected, and subsequently PERFECTED their approach.)
We cherish the Roadhouse Super, ordered extra crispy. Also recommend the battered cod fish sandwich that fills a dinner plate by itself, their ribs, broasted chicken, Sunday unlimited pasta and garlic bread for cause, wraps, and The...
