We go to TG at least once per month on average. Great beer choices. New mixed drinks are a great addition for those who don't drink beer.
We've had brunch in the past. Happy with our food and drinks at brunch.
We were a group of 8 that showed up for Ann Christopher who was playing music outside on Wednesday night. We follow Ann and planned our trip here since she would be close to home.
We sat outside at a picnic table. Be prepared to have multiple people waiting on you whenever you are at TG. They get more breaks than any other bar/eating establishment I've ever been too.
Alex was our server. She gave us each a number for our ticket to help keep our bills straight. She did a good job. She had trouble hearing me a few times and then forgot to grab things I asked for like peppers and cheese for the pizza. My favorite thing about Alex was when I started giving her a hard time she didn't get upset. She had a great attitude and was fun to banter with during the evening. (This isn't typical here.) We had another server during Alex's break. Alex came back and we had fun with her. Thought we should leave so paid our bills. As is typical in this business.... we then ordered more drinks from another server that was walking by. Alex was offended and let us know. She made sure to let us know she was upset she didn't get to serve us our last round.
We got to know her even better after she ran into a table she was walking by and we teased her about learning to walk Alex is the fun type of server that we love to tip well.
This was the best food and server experience we've ever had at TG. The pizza had a thin crispy crust. (A year ago we had pizza and were disappointed. ) Our table had Capresse, chicken pesto, and sweet and spicy pizzas as well as chicken sammy's and a wrap. Everyone enjoyed the food. We also had more than our share of beers. Places I've Been was the most popular beer of the night. The margaritas and fandango sunrise were very good also.
Thank you, Alex for giving us a fun experience at TG! We hope to have you as a server in the future. You are an...
Read moreWe arrived around 6pm on Friday, January 20. The first thing that made us hesitate was how crazy loud the music from inside could be heard off to the side of the building at the back of the parking lot. The wait wasn't bad for a Friday at 6pm - maybe 10 min. Our table was a high top right behind the host stand. And it was so. freaking. loud. with the live music - one guy & a guitar. Even our 19 year old, who has been singing for 10 years, was frustrated with how loud the music was & how we all had to yell to be heard. It was even worse because there were crying babies and screaming kiddos - not that we blamed them or their parents because it was so freaking loud! We waited over 10 min for the host to come back with water. We waited another 10 min for the waiter to come over for our drink order. We were very patient, as it was obvious that there were 2 - maybe 3 - servers for the whole restaurant. When our waiter came over we knew what we wanted and ordered drinks, apps, and entrees all at once. The waiter was friendly and made suggestions. Soon after we ordered one of the hosts went over to the musician and asked him to turn the sound down, which he did. For about 2 songs before it went back up again. Our food came out pretty quickly for as busy & short staffed as they were. The cheese curds with marinara were AMAZING! The wings with honey garlic Buffalo were absolutely delicious. The beer and the black cherry soda were good. Unfortunately that is where it stopped. Our pizza (supreme) was gross - the outer crust was like a cracker crust, but the center was like raw dough. There was so much ham and fennel it was difficult to finish one piece. The burger was ok, but was definitely medium rare, not medium well. The fries were grainy, pasty, and tasted like old fry oil. All in all, not even a little...
Read moreMy family and I are from the Des Moines area and were camping in Decorah for the weekend. My wife and I booked brewery tour tickets in advance and were excited to check out the facilities, despite my wife not caring for beer at all and the fact that we had our 5 small children with us.
We arrived early to the tour so we had time to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy some cheese curds and a lemon shandy. Our tour guide, Jon, who is also the head of hospitality stopped by our table just before the start of the tour to reluctantly inform us we would not be able to tour the facilities as we did not have close-toed shoes. I could tell he genuinely felt bad about this, despite my missing this disclaimer on their website at the time of purchasing our tickets. Jon was so kind and diligent about finding a resolution for us, even offering to work with eTix to get us a refund. He even offered to allow us to go back to our campsite, get our tennis shoes, and come back for the tour as we were the only people that had signed up. We eagerly took him up on his offer and came back 30 minutes later.
Jon gave an excellent tour, making it interesting for all of us, including the kids. It ended up being a highlight of our weekend for all of us, including the littles, simply because Jon made it fun and interesting and gave us an excellent look into how Toppling Goliath operates and how the brand has grown into such a giant in the craft beer industry. Hats off to your entire team at TG, but an extra shout out to Jon for living up to his title and providing excellent hospitality. You are fortunate to have such a great ambassador for your brand. Thanks for turning what would have been a disappointing experience into an awesome one, and making it one of the best parts of our...
