Great place for our outdoor lunch. We arrived soon after they opened at noon on a Sunday and the patio filled up fast. Seating is first-come, first-served. Be aware that the gravel on the patio is challenging for strollers, wheelchairs, and walker/rollators. You can choose from a variety of seating arrangements like high bar tables with stools, picnic-style tables, or standard dining height tables, most with umbrellas. There’s an area with games for the children. Nice menu and drink selection; prices are reasonable. Our Rueben, chili, and onion rings were delicious. We didn’t need bug spray, but you might during summer evenings. It was the perfect place for the train enthusiast in our group who enjoyed seeing the Essex Steam Train roll by. Shout-out for the friendly and efficient wait service. Looking forward to our next visit!

This was definitely a pleasant surprise as a stop for dinner on our way to Providence. The food was amazing which you would not expect from a place like this. The bartender Mike was friendly and definitely knew his drinks. The crowd was great. Everybody was sociable plus there was live music outside with an entire patio area with tables and umbrellas. It’s definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area. PRO POLICE, FIRE AND MILITARY!!!!!!’ A great American tavern !!!!!!

Was somewhat busy, but service was efficient. Had the Trenitalia Frecciarossa, wifey had the Long Horn Chicken sandwich. Both were very good. Came with fries. Had a couple of beers and wifey had a glsss a wine. The prices are a little high for menu items, but this place doesn't serve up just your typical bar food. Sitting outside was nice, inside was equally nice. Got to see the Essex steam train roll by a couple of times....now I know why it's called the Rusty Rail.

Went there for the first time today. First of all, we went inside and expected to sit and eat inside. We were met by someone who said if we were planning on ording food we had to be seated outside. We proceed to the patio area. We had to walk on gravel to get to our tables. There were dogs all around us, our food, and our table. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We got our drinks out and was prepared to put our order in as we usually do everytime we go out. The waitress brought out our drinks and left. We were never asked if we were ready to order. Then about 30 minutes later, the waitress brings out our appetizers that we ordered. Again, she took off and never asked if we wanted to put in a order. Then we get asked by whom we assumed was the owner how did we like our dip. We told him it was good. We asked him if we could possibly put in our order. He said she will come back by when she is ready to get your order. We waited another 30 minutes and decided we would just go someplace else. The waitress finally came and asked if we would like to order. We told her no that we would just take our checks. And thank you... I guess the owner must have told her that we asked to order after that because she brought over the check and was very angry. In a very angry way, she sat the check Down and said sorry your experience has not been the best. Then rolled her eyes and stomped away.. The bill was over 70 dollars for 2 dips and 4 drinks. My brother paid the bill. Then the waitress brings out the same bill again for the same things and handed it to me. My sister in law who works as a waitress at this time was livid. She got up to speak to the owner and the owner told her to never come back again. She then said she was going to go find the waitress and still give her 20.00 for waiting on us. She wanted to do this because she wanted to turn the other cheek and do the right thing in spite of us going to a place and paying money to be treated so awful. No sir, I don't think we will ever be back again after this experience. I hope other customers are not treated this way in the future. However, judging by other reviews and the responses, I highly doubt it. This seems to be the norm as to how customers are treated and the response they get when they as a paying...

Went there to see a great band play "Tough Cookie", from 7pm to 10pm. The band was set up outdoors. The problem is, too many rules to follow...food only served until 8:45pm. The band was still playing by 9pm everyone was gone because the food was gone! The band played on! To about 6 people. Why hire a band to play for 3 hours if you're only open for 2 hours and then cut the band off early because you have no customers? Live and learn. The food was okay...bar food, expensive bar food. Nothing to write home about . And of course cheap or watered down booze. I hope the band declines the next time they are asked to play there. Not worth the traveling time! Also, the rocks that the waitresses and the patrons had to walk on in the patio area. I can see a good law suit happening real soon! Very poor serving setup for the servers. One more additional comment. When we got there we told the hostess we were there to see the band. There we 3 empty tables up front (not reserved) in front of the band, where does she put us????? The last table in the back, then states...."you can see them from here"!. NOT, too many other tables in the way!. I hope the owners fix the patio before someone BREAKS something! Are you listening out there?! Definitely will not go back, I got a strong feeling of unfriendliness. Oh, something REALLY BIG I forgot. You can bring your dogs (AROUND FOOD) and some of those big dogs were very unfriendly! Connecticut is one state where dogs are NOT allowed in restaurants! Unless you get (have?) a special ordinance for it for that town. Wonder what that's all about? Someone should find out if they are operating...

Never had the chance to sit and eat. We walked in at 4:25 on a Sunday. We are season ticket holders at the Goodspeed. This “restaurant “ is on their partner restaurant list. We walked inside and sat down at a table . There was a sign to see the hostess but we saw no one inside or outside. The bartender greeted us by saying Did you see the hostess?. I replied we didn’t see anyone outside. She came inside. Never a hello from her either. She greeted us with the kitchen closes in 10 minutes. The website says 5:00pm on Sunday. It was 4:27. She told us we have to sit outside. It was -“around 87° felt like 96° and all the outside tables were in the sun with the umbrellas closed. So that would mean the seats were probably very hot to sit on. My son asked can we order food. Her reply yes if you sit outside. We left. Not a good partner for the Goodspeed. We went to Morinas where we had a great meal . Sat inside in air conditioning. With an overwhelmed staff that greeted us warmly. Won’t be back here no matter how good your reviews are. Rudest bartender and hostess we have ever encountered. I will be calling the Goodspeed tomorrow to let them know you are far from a...
