Since moving here I was excited this try this place out. Finally we stopped in with a taco craving. I walked in the door and had to find the server to place a to go order...no biggie. We ordered 6 tacos and some chips & queso. I asked how many chips you got with the small and she motioned about half a bag and a good amount of queso. Then she says, "tomatoes and sour cream on all?" like it was a given, SURE I replied. She rings us up and says oooo by the way, it's this amount because of all tour add ons. Lol ok fine ... it was our first time and I'm all about supporting mom and pop places. So I ask how long, she says 15 or so minutes.... what lol ok fine. There was 2 other tables eating already, not sure why the wait but ok. She actually brought the food outside which was nice and I looked n the bag, no queso, just salsa. I stuck my hand n the chips and thought wow theres lile 8 chips n there, then proceeded to grab the tiniest styrofoam cup of salsa and ate some. The man I was with had gone in to tell her they forgot the queso. All of a sudden hes walking put to the truck with the most disturbed look on his face and says, she wants the salsa back (per the chef)....WHAT! LOL it's like 3 tablespoons and I've already eaten from it. I thought he was kidding. So I closed it up and gave it to him. She told him she had to use THAT salsa to make the queso. I was in shock the whole ride home lol who does that. It's not only against the law to take back in open food but REALLY LADY?? Then I get home and the "queso" looked like really deep yellow processed cheese from a bag with my salsa mixed in. It was disgusting. Tried to laugh it off cause what else can u do, grabbed the tacos and they felt like air! No flavor and hardly anything on it. I'm not ever going back there. I cant believe I paid that much money for horrible food and service. I'm just appalled with their food safety. Can u imagine what they do when no one is watching. Then we all finished the night with headaches....
Read moreWe heard good things about Taco City first time we could not find it it’s in small building tucked just off the road and drive by you may miss it but turn around the food is worth it. We just had lunch I got a 6 pack of tacos for 7.99 taste so good just like you would make at home but much better. I do wish she wasn’t out of jalapeños but delicious none the less my wife had a quesadilla and we split a nacho and the nachos were awesome and wife said her quesadilla was very good! Very fast and friendly Sevice we will likely be on first name basis before too long as we are just moving into town and food such as this will always bring us back and then you add the friendly atmosphere how can you not want to return! I hope they have jalapeño next...
Read moreFound this place on a road trip. When we walked in, it was like a scene in a movie where the outsider walks into the saloon. Everyone stopped talking and eating and followed our every move with their eyes. An old woman may have literally clutched her pearls.
We quietly ordered and opted to take the food to go given the visceral feeling that we would be driven out of town at any moment. Ate the tacos in the car down by the railroad tracks. To this day, I frequently shout, "Taaaaacoooo City!" in a stereotypical Texas accent (like the guys who said "New York City?! in those old salsa commercials).
The food was perfectly medium, but the experience will...
