Lala's Bagels — Restaurant in DeKalb Township

Service:

I came in right before close and the owner wasn't around for 2 minutes or so while we looked around, they came in and apologized for keeping us waiting, I said it was no problem we were only waiting for a few minutes and he said that 2 minutes was 2 minutes too long.

Food:

I wasn't expecting much in terms of selection since we came in right before close, but I was pleasantly surprised by the selection they had left. I ordered 2 Bagel Dogs, a Bacon 🥓, Egg 🥚, and Cheese 🧀 on Rye, a Cheese Danish, and a Cinnamon Bun. (My significant other and I ate the bagel dogs before the picture lol)

Thoughts/Rating:

Overall, the food outdid my expectations. The Bacon 🥓, Egg 🥚, and Cheese 🧀 on the Rye bagel was pretty spectacular. It's really difficult to find Rye bread/bagels that actually have enough Rye flavor, and this bagel knocked it out of the park. The sandwhich was filling and it was cheaper than other bagel sandwiches in the area, my only change would be to add sausage because I love breakfast sausage, but I digress 😂. The Cinnamon Bun was 🤌, and the Cheese Danish was a bit thick and flakey, just 🤤. I wasn't the biggest fan of the bagel dog simply because I don't really eat them often, but for what they were they were okay. Overall I would give them a 9/10, I would definitely recommend checking out Lala's 👍.

UPDATE:

I just came back again today about a year later as a comparison review and ordered a Sausage Egg & Cheese on a Rye 🥯, Corned Beef on a Rye 🥯, and a Pumpkin Muffin. Absolutely delicious, the corned beef wasn't too salty and paired extremely well with the bagel and pepper jack cheese. The Sausage Egg and Cheese was a classic, still great, and the pumpkin muffin was 🤤. 9.8/10, their quality has gotten even better since last year. I don't know how long they serve corned beef, but if you can get it before its gone, you WILL NOT want...

Where to begin? Oh I know. Let’s start with customer service. The staff is super friendly! In todays world great customer service is hard to find. So for that thank you! They are so nice and ready to help you with any question you might have. Now this place offers breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, and super super yummy fresh baked goods. The bagels are fire! The pastries are out of this world good. The lunch sandwiches are made with boarshead products and let me tell you. Do Not Sleep on this!!! Get a lunch sandwich on any bagel they offer. Mind you fresh made bagels in house! If your sitting at home hurry up and grab your keys and go go go! The are only ope. Tuesday-Saturday 7am-2pm. I promise you you will be amazed at the quality. Everything there is absolutely delicious. Not cheap but they use high quality ingredients. Their customer service is outstanding also. My only complaint is their hours, they close at 2:00 pm so if you work 3rd shift or 2nd like me, you're screwed, apparently this is a place only for early morning people, if you want something for the afternoon or dinner you're also screwed.
